In this article, we look at a few of the players who range from incoming Freshman to Juniors who are were Day 1 Standouts. A few of these players are already leaders of their teams, but most of the players on this list are new names you should know for the upcoming high school season as well as for the remainder of the college live period.
Janie Boyd Janie Boyd SG Providence School | 2025 State FL came to the play at Orlando Splash and she is going to be a “problem” for the First Coast next year. The Junior can flat out shoot the ball from anywhere this side of half court. Boyd had over 20 points and 3 to 4 three pointers, including a go ahead three in the final minutes of the game. She also handled the ball well and distributed the rock to poen teammates.
Narissa Blocton Narissa Blocton 5'9" | PG Ridgeview | 2026 State FL will be looking to step into a new role this upcoming season at Ridgeview High School and on Day 1 of Orlando Splash the young Blocton showed that she is more than ready for the challenge. Blocton was all over the court applying great on ball pressure, executing the diamond-and- one defense, and wreaking havoc in the passing lanes. Blocton also stood out on the offensive end with some nice backdoor cuts and finishes.
Tatiana Matthews Tatiana Matthews 5'9" | CG Dunnellon HS | 2024 State FL really looked impressive on the court. Her finishes on the break were of the spectacular nature and they showcased her speed, athleticim and explosiveness on the court. Defensively, she was solid on the ball and in passing lanes and she created several turnovers and fast break opportunities for her team.
Jolena Gardner Jolena Gardner 6'0" | SF Columbia | 2025 State FL had the inside game and outside game going on Day 1 of Orlando Splash. Gardner connected on several 3s and also had some nice finishes in the paint. She handled the ball well and showcased a lot of versatility on Day 1 of Orlando Splash.
Kayla Massey Kayla Massey 5'4" | PG Jean Ribault | 2024 State FL was at it again -applying pressure on both sides of the ball. Defensively, Massey was in the face of the opponent creating turnovers and on the offensive end she was putting pressure on the defender, getting to the rim and drawing fouls and converting layups.
Kasey Davey Kasey Davey 5'10" | PG Providence | 2026 State FL really played well on the opening day of Splash. She has the ability to get to the rim and make some impressive shots. Davey really played well on the defensive end, applying great pressure on the ball. She was key in her team’s comeback victory.
Julianna Baskin Julianna Baskin 6'2" | PF Providence | 2026 State FL was really a standout on Day 1 with her do everything performance. Baskin was a monster on the boards, especially down the stretch. She has great length and versatility. She did a good job of defending in space and also in the paint. She is a very effective scorer from the freethrow line and has a very smooth delivery.
