There were some nice guard in every class, but the 2025 shooters and slasher were special. In this article we hilight some of the 2025 guards who were impressive – some from behind the arc and others who could get to the rim.
Olivia Staples Olivia Staples 5'6" | SG Freedom | 2025 State FL was her usual self, shooting the cover off the ball with the sweetest jumper you will ever see. Staples scored from the three point line at a high rate. Staples has such a quick release and is veryv accurate shooting the ball. At Run 4 Roses, she also got involved in the transition game and had some nice scores in the open court. She also was a playmaker on the court getting steals and dishing the rock to teammates for easy scores.
Jadynn Spivey Jadynn Spivey 5'9" | SG Creekside | 2025 State FL showed a lot of leadership on the court and I was very impressed with her versatility to play the point guard position when she normally she plays at the shooting guard position. Spivey shot the three very well and also got the ball to the basket. She was very crafty with the ball and was able to draw fouls and get to the freethrow line. Spivey also stood out on the defensive end of the court. She played with a great amount of energy and impacted her team in every category.
Addison Fowkes Addison Fowkes 5'6" | SG Carrollwood Day | 2025 State FL (cover photo) played very well at Run 4 Roses Championship last week and was very efficient from behind the arc. Fowkes also impressed with her ability to stop and pop from the midrange area. Her versatile game led to a 14 point output and an 18 point explosion. She also played through contact and created scoring opportunities from the freethrow line. The sharp shooting guard did more than score though. She was solid on defense, creating steals and scoring opportunities for her teammates. Fowkes also rebounded well from the guard position.
Asya Lara Barnes Asya Lara Barnes 6'0" | SF DME Academy | 2025 State FL was really nice out on the court. She had the ability to drive left or right. She got to the rim when she wanted to and also showcased a nice baseline floater. Barnes also got to the freethrow line. She was very crafty and drawing fouls. Barnes knows how to score in a multiple of ways, and that was evident at Run 4 Roses.
Kaya Langford Kaya Langford 5'7" | SG Canterbury | 2025 State FL lit up Run 4 Roses as well. She scored in double figures almost every game. Langford showcased the quick release and an accurate shooting touch. If she shot the deep ball you could almost call it “money” every time. Her ability to run baseline to baseline, get out in front of the defense on fast breaks, and finish at the rim was a beautiful thing to watch. She balled out, scoring 12, 15, and 17 in three of her games. Her shooting was so hot she turned a bed of roses into potpourri. She was a standout.
Ashlyn Young Ashlyn Young 5'8" | PG PK Young DRS | 2026 State FL continued to shine at Run 4 Roses Classic. Young excels in the up and down fast pace game and that is the game I walked up to at the Kentucky Expo Center. Young scored 10 points or more in the second half, scoring from the midrange area, a jump shot off the glass and scoring in transition. Defensively, Young was tight on the ball. Young turned steals into fast breaks for herself and for her teammates.
