Ashlyn Young Ashlyn Young 5'8" | PG Williston | 2026 State FL was one of the top playmaking guards in the rural division championships with her ability to handle the ball and read the defense.  Like an option quarterback she surgically dissected her opponent with downhill drives and pinpoint passes when the defense collapsed. Her ball IQ, athleticism, and decision making were on full display on the biggest stage of the season. In the title game, she recorded 15 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds, while also contributing defensively. Her ability to control tempo, create offense, and make timely decisions gave Williston a consistent edge.  Young capitalized on her abilities, instincts, and 6 year varsity experience – having played varsity since she was in the 6th grade. 

Ashlyn Young Ashlyn Young 5'8" | PG Williston | 2026 State FL controlled the pace and flow of the game with 15 points and 5 assists. Young came off of a 2-14 shooting performance in the semi finals and was poised to play her game in the finals. She was the most polished player on the court and it showed up in her ball handling, her composure, her control of the team and her play making abilities. She literally ran the offense like an option quarterback – drawing the defense and dishing to her teammates for the buckets – inside and out. In addition to creating opportunities for her teammates, Young got downhill and scored in the heart of the defense. Young was special and was the catalyst on a special night for Williston.

Young ran into one of the best rim protectors in the 2027 class in Blountstown Cyianna Smith Cyianna Smith 5'9" | SF Blountstown | 2027 State FL , who not only was quick, but had elite defensive skills. Young may face challenges in the championship game, but it’s hardly unlikely that the team’s top player will shoot 2-14 from the field again.

Ashlyn Young Ashlyn Young 5'8" | PG Williston | 2026 State FL didn’t have her normal statistical performances, but her impact was felt during key moments of the game. The moment she stepped on the floor, the energy shifted and responsibility came into focus. What stands out immediately is her athleticism, speed, and confidence she plays with. Young attacked coast-to-coast with flair, finishing a few times through traffic and provided glimpses of why she came into the game as one of the top players in the rural division. Young’s ability to push tempo and apply rim pressure immediately changed the pace of the game.   She ran the floor well and when she wasn’t getting to the rim to score, she was dishing the “rock” to her teammates for scoring opportunities.

Ashlyn is a three-level scorer and two-way presence whose poised decision-making allow her to control every phase of the game while impacting it in multiple ways.

Ashlyn Young Ashlyn Young 5'8" | PG Williston | 2026 State FL has consistently been a top scorer and player in the Gainesville area since her freshman year, and there has been no drop-off in her senior campaign. Young is a consistent point guard you can always depend on; she does much more than score while still averaging 14 PPG this season. Her season high is 27 points against Newberry, where she was on fire, going 12-for-14 from the field.

Williston is currently sitting at 11–2 on the season and ranked 28th in the state. They are looking to make a deep Rural playoff run, and this senior has a chip on her shoulder as she looks to avenge their regional finals loss to the eventual Rural state champions, Wildwood.

Ashlyn Young Ashlyn Young 5'8" | PG Williston | 2026 State FL has the accolades and there is definitely a State title that she yearns for. Last year, Wildwood stood in the path of Young and everyone else. Young is a versatile player who can sore the basketball any way and her game is predicated on speed and incredible athleticism. She leads her team and is a playmaking guard who gets everyone involved. Young is geared and ready to go and will definitely be a player to watch this upcoming season.

Ashlyn was normally the best player on the floor in the games I saw. She is a true three-level scorer that showcased all of that on Saturday. Her deep ball was falling, she was hitting floaters in traffic, and she could get downhill past her defenders with ease and also finished with finesse at the rim. She has really tight handles and could weave through the defense in transition to get her team points in any fashion necessary.

Ashlyn Young Ashlyn Young 5'8" | PG Williston | 2026 State FL uses her speed and length to be a threat on both the offensive and defensive ends. She can get to the rim from a distance using her long strides, stretching out for layups to avoid blocked shots and late-rotating defenders. She has the ability to finish off either one or two feet while staying balanced. Defensively, she’s one of the better shot-blocking guards, combining athleticism with her length. And you can’t leave her open—she can knock down the open three as well.

She excels in transition, both as a scorer and a stopper, and reads passing lanes well to generate steals. Offensively, she can get to the rim and can also hit the three. Young’s game is getting to the rim and dominating in transition. Ashlyn is a glue player who lets her game do the talking. Last season she lead her team in scoring, steals, and assists.
