Team Stuck 15U – NIKE TOC Chicago observations

She handled the point guard position most of the time. She has great instincts and ball skills. She showed the ability to create off the dribble with a quick first step. She has a mix of tricks to free herself for shots. She has a mid-range pull up, including step backs. She uses the cross over dribble well, and has a nice up and under move off the two foot stop. I was impressed with her ball handling skills. This is something that has improved or I overlooked before. She also can get to the basket with the dribble and shoot with a soft touch extending to the three point line. She even had some nice drive and kicks to open perimeter players, which is an underrated play in basketball these days. She also displayed a beautiful mid-range jumper that was textbook. She has good enough strength to finish at the basket and is improved as an all level scorer in the off-season. She can shoot nice fade away jumpers from inside the key, which is due to her strength. The same can be said about [player_tooltip player_id='580530' first='Ellery' last='Burke-Brown']. I saw both do it. Brooke can also play either guard spot. She shows great floor vision and passing ability, which included the one hand variety. She has a quick first step and gets to the basket with quickness and speed. She is a great finishing guard with both hands at the basket. She has great shot mechanics and can shoot it from three. She gets to the free throw line. She has good quickness instincts on defense which results in a lot of anticipation steals. She is a fairly good athlete and got some points off of strong drives to the hoop. She isn't afraid of the dirty work, showing a willingness to take on that role. She didn't have to score a bunch, she did the little things well. Another player to watch in the freshman class next season.
