As the grassroots season wraps up, student-athletes begin back-to-school shopping, preparing for the 2023-2024 school year. The Class of 2024, believe it or not, is approaching their Senior season, and I wanted to highlight some of the top uncommitted prospects position by position as we head into the end of Summer and the beginning of Fall. Below is a look at the Top-10 center prospects who remain uncommitted at this time, to the best of my knowledge.
1.
Kyra Hill

Goshen | 2024
State

, 2024, 6-2 C, Goshen H.S.
– Kyra is one of the younger sisters to former Goshen grad and University of Illinois front-liner Brynn Shoup-Hill. Kyra has a similarly strong, long frame, with solid all-around athleticism. She has also shown the ability to step outside and knock down the occasional 3-pointer, but I feel like she operates best in the mid-post, and she likes to seek contact off the dribble and go into post moves from there. Rumor throughout July was that she was close to a commitment, so keep your eyes on social media for that to potentially come soon.
2.
Tia Phinezy

Fort Wayne Snider | 2024
State
IN
, 2024, 6-2 C, Fort Wayne Snider H.S.
– Tia is one of those kids who absolutely looks the part. She has an extremely long, wiry-strong frame, she runs the floor very well in transition, and she plays with some bounce around the basket. She is a tremendous presence defensively, blocking/altering most shots inside of 10-feet. She can box out or pursue rebounds, and she plays with effort. Offensively, she has come a long way, and she is a threat now inside of 15-feet. At the same time, she is an elite volleyball prospect, and she is rumored to be narrowing that list of schools.
3.
Alexis Warren

Pike | 2024
State
IN
, 2024, 6-1 C, Pike H.S.
– Alexis is an impressive looking post prospect. She has tremendous strength/power, she plays with physicality at the basket, and she has a soft lefty touch in the mid-post. She is mostly comfortable on the offensive left block, especially turning baseline, so she will need to diversify her finishes a little more, but she does elevate some, and she absorbs contact very well. I feel like in the last year, she has actually become more physical and played with more intent at the basket, instead of settling for too many jumpers. She is also a presence defensively.
4.
Sarah Gick

Benton Central | 2024
State
IN
, 2024, 6-1 C, Benton Central H.S.
– Sarah is definitely a “fit” kid for the next level, but she has a very unique skillset and helps her teams win. She is an extremely long, wiry-strong post, and she plays with tremendous physicality. Where she stands out is defensively, as she blocks shots, plus she is one of the best “help-side” defenders I have seen on the back end. She rotates early/on-time, plus she maintains her ground, doesn’t get displaced, and she “walls up” very well. Offensively, she has become much more effective in the mid-post, while finishing consistently on the block.
5.
Giselle Eke

Bishop Dwenger | 2024
State
IN
, 2024, 6-3 C, Bishop Dwenger H.S.
– Giselle is a broad-shouldered, strong, almost powerful post prospect. She plays with a lot of physicality around the basket, she keeps the ball high, finishes at the rim, plus she seeks contact defensively, and she can keep opposing posts from establishing themselves early in possessions. She has worked on developing a face-up game, and while it is improved, it would benefit her to continue making it more consistent in the mid-post. She recently picked up a Division-I offer from an Ohio Valley Conference school.

Lawrence North | 2024
State

, 2024, 6-1 C/PF, Lawrence North H.S.
– I first saw Natalia between her 8th Grade and Freshman year, and she was this long, wiry, athletic, but somewhat raw front-liner. Fast forward to today, and she has come a long way. She is so much stronger, much more physical, but she has maintained quite a bit of her athleticism. She has worked on finishing consistently at the rim, and she has a nice motor and a nose for the ball. Defensively, she can move her feet and defend some out on the perimeter, plus she’s a solid rim-protector as well. The scary thing is, she is still getting better.
7.
Jadyn Harris

Pike | 2024
IN
, 2024, 6-3 C, Pike H.S.
– Jadyn is another really nice prospect whose best years are likely in front of her. She is extremely long, wiry-strong, and fairly bouncy. She’s a nice North/South athlete, and I think she could be a little quicker laterally, she just needs to continue building strength so she can play lower. She has solid hands, and she can even put it on the floor one or two dribbles and get somewhere. As she continues to develop her skillset, she could become a really nice college prospect who just continues to trend up the next five years.
8.
Lauryn Merritt

, 2024, 6-4 C, Maconaquah H.S.
– I’ve spoken about Lauryn a few times over the last couple of months, and it’s because she is back and healthy, and she is playing at a fairly high level. She is long, tall, and versatile too. She does a nice job around the paint, and she keeps the ball high, but a little more strength will definitely help with her physicality, though she is willing to seek contact. She has nice touch in the mid-post as well, plus I like her ability to catch off of pick-and-roll situations. As she continues to gain strength, her game will be that much more consistent.
9.
Allie Boyer

Blackhawk Christian | 2024
IN
, 2024, 6-2 C, Blackhawk Christian H.S.
– Allie is a multisport athlete for Blackhawk Christian, and she excels for their State Championship volleyball team. She has good size and strength, she can play physically around the block, plus she is a fairly balanced athlete at her size, and she possesses really nice length. She can be a major deterrent at the defensive end of the floor, but she can also sit down and score it with her back to the basket at the offensive end of the floor. If she chooses to play basketball at the next level, she could be a nice small college prospect.
10.
Journee Brown

Seymour | 2024

, 2024, 6-1 C, Seymour H.S.
– I really like Journee, and I think she can be a really nice, versatile center. What I like about her most is her mobility. She does have good strength, and she can sit down on the block and score it consistently. But she is also a great rim-runner, and she can play facing the basket in the mid-post. She can knock down the 15-footer, or she can put it on the floor a couple of dribbles and get to the rim to score it. While she is primarily a threat inside of that 15-foot bubble, I do feel like she can play all over the floor in an offense.
