First up, a look at some of the point guards from Saturday in the pool play and bracket games.
Dymon Purcell- Overtime Performance Black
Quick and active with the ball, high motor and energy. Can use her first step to get by her defender. Shifty guard with handles and plays with a good head on her shoulders.
Kailey Lothery – Rice Basketball Academy
Active on the defender, her hands can create turnovers with quickness. Good floor leader, able to distribute the ball to the right place. Smooth from the line.
Avery Van Dellen Avery Van Dellen 5'7" | PG West Ottawa | 2025 State MI – Michigan Drive Premier
Can push the tempo and get the ball up the court in transition. Good court vision and a phenomenal leader. Has an outstanding shot and can finish well at the midrange.
Mariah Overton – Playmakers Elite
Not only is she an outstanding floor leader and able to control the tempo, she also does an excellent job with a good perimeter shot. Good court vision and able to make the right pass. Plays with energy!!
Janaya Lenoir – Dayton Metro Williams
Wiry guard with a good wingspan and active hands, contributes at both ends of the floor, and plays with a high motor. Not afraid to play downhill and get to the rim with a nice first step and finish. Natural floor leader.
Zoie Bruner Zoie Bruner 5'8" | SF Tri-West | 2025 IN – Showcase Red BSJL
Plays with a lot of energy, anticipates the game well, and has active hands. In the passing lanes she can deflect and makes steals. Good handles and a strong outlet passer. Nice range and an outstanding player from the last time I saw her. (feature photo above)
Landen Smith Landen Smith 5'9" | SF East Kentwood | 2025 State MI – Big Nik Basketball
Outstanding size and able to control the tempo of the game. Great court vision and distributes the ball. Good body control, can draw contact and finish at the rim.
Averi Collins Averi Collins 5'3" | PG Churchill | 2025 State MI – Michigan Anarchy
Smooth jumper, does an outstanding job as a floor general, fiery and spunky, and can create plays. She epitomizes what a great point guard is supposed to do, excellent floor work and solid decision making.
Libby Maurer Libby Maurer 5'7" | PG Ithaca Junior Senior | 2026 State MI – REAL
Could be a REAL playmaker on the floor, she has a nose for the ball and defensively does a nice job on the ball. High energy guard with handles, good court vision and able to be a solid leader.
Kendra Bondurant – Premier Basketball Club
Not afraid to take it into the teeth of the defense, she has good handles and did a REAL ly nice job from the point position in the game I saw. Good range, can drop the three!
Kate Donovan – Full Package Black
She has great court vision and a very smart basketball IQ. Excellent on ball defender can create mistakes and capitalize for her team. Pinpoint passer.
