St. Mary Catholic
The Zephyrs have been on the cusp of making a state tournament the past few seasons and will have an outside chance of making another one this season. Emily Vogel Emily Vogel 5'10" | CG St. Mary Catholic | 2025 State WI will have an increased role after the graduation of her sister. Audrey Norville Audrey Norville 5'10" | SF St. Mary Catholic | 2024 State WI had a stellar summer. She did an excellent job playing aggressively and finishing around the basket. The Zephyrs have been a staple in D4 basketball for some time now, and I expect them to continue to excel.
Mishicot
Last season’s sectional champions lost one of their most integral pieces in Eau Claire commit, Kailey Tulachka. Outside of her, Mishicot only lost one player in their rotation. There is an outside chance that this group has to replicate some of the success they found last season. The new year always brings new faces and landscapes, don’t be shocked if Mishicot continues to succeed.
Howards Grove
The Tigers had an outstanding group come through a few years ago and are constantly competitive. Howards Grove does lose their leading scorer from a season ago, but programs like this one will always have kids who can be contributors.
Manitowoc Lutheran
One of the most intriguing teams from the Wisconsin Varsity Invitational was Manitowoc Lutheran. Without much knowledge of the program, they played well and seemed to enjoy playing together, and Marissa Mehlhorn is a good athlete who could play on both ends. A kid I didn’t recognize (pictured at the top) also looked awesome at Center Court.
Reedsville
The top two scorers, Mercedes Grimm, and Mallory Novy, are back this season. Any program with some continuity tends to fair better than the year before. I’m not sure if it’ll show in the wins and losses, but they’ll be more competitive.
Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah
Kat Miller and Coryn Fromm were one of the best duos in this conference, but as one of the smaller schools in the Big East-North, they faced an uphill battle. Fromm is back and should provide some offense for the Resorters this season.
Hilbert
The Wolves are another small school facing an uphill battle. They’ll look to build from their 22-23 season and look to find the positives.
