Here I take a look at a few of the standouts who will most likely be in the 2A player of the year conversations.

[player_tooltip player_id='582391' first='Aila' last='Kaibara'] Phoenix Country Day

The floor leader for the defending state champions, Kaibara blossomed during the spring and summer. She will have even more confidence this upcoming season as she looks to lead the Eagles to a repeat appearance at Veteran's Memorial Coliseum.

[player_tooltip player_id='605055' first='Rachel' last='Roderick'] Sedona Red Rock

Roderick has been an imposing interior presence and will continue to be for a Red Rock squad that looks to rebuild around her. She commands double teams on the offensive end and could be a front runner for conference defensive player of the year.

[player_tooltip player_id='605114' first='Ellysia' last='Cutter'] San Carlos

Cutter is coming off a sophomore season in which she scored in double figures in every game of the regular season and had the Braves within a few possessions of a championship game appearance. Look for the junior to shoulder even more of the load this season with the loss of two key seniors.

Kaelynn Nez Valley (Sanders)

One of the top returning scorers in the state, Nez accounted for nearly 40% of her team's points. Her and Valley look to help build upon last year's final four finish.

[player_tooltip player_id='673101' first='Demetria' last='Dosela'] Miami

The do-it-all lefty forward put up incredible numbers last year and looks to help the team go on a deep playoff run. She had an impressive stat line of points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks putting her in the conversation.

[player_tooltip player_id='443661' first='Olivia' last='Owens'] Phoenix Country Day (Featured Image)

The reigning player of the year on the defending state champions is just getting started. Her offensive game has been continuing to develop since the end of last season. When her three ball is falling, she's as tough as any guard in the state regardless of class.
