The following is the first of a series of articles identifying top performers that caught my eye;
Tearirra Miller SG-LRJ Elite 2027 Rison J.H.-This future Rison High School product is in the 2028 graduation class but was so impressive, she made my 2027 impact performers list. She has the size and strength to play at the high school level now! During this past grassroots season, she averaged 4 steals a game and handled the rock with a team-low touch-to-turnover ratio. She loves to drive to the basket. Tiarirra will dominate in her 8th-grade year and will definitely push those upperclassmen when she enrolls at Rision High School in the 2024-25 season.
Emma Rusher PG-D.E.B.S. Elite Pink 14U Baptist Prep J.H.-Emma has excellent ball control. She will be attending Baptist Prep High School this fall and as a freshman can make a huge impact by pushing the varsity squad for quality minutes this coming school year. Her floor balance gets her to the rim from either side of the court. Emma has excellent court vision and impressive leadership qualities, something her high school coaching staff will notice immediately.
Jamaya Nathan SG-No Excuses 14U Jacksonville H.S.-An unbelievable athlete that has no problem taking it to the hole! That’s Jamaya’s game. She looks to score on every touch. Stong and very quick, she’ll be leading the pack on the freshman and JV squads, but by the end of the season could get the attention of the Jacksonville H.S. varsity coaching staff. Getting lower with the ball, working on the weak side, and improving her floor balance will get her that look.
Addison Evans P-Swaggin Dragons 2027 Bigelow H.S.-Addison has a ton of potential. She has the size and the strength to play at the varsity level as a freshman. Her footwork is good in and around the block. When posting up in the paint, if she can get her opponent on her hip, it’s automatic. Addison needs to work on her weak side and improve her footwork on defense, but the tools are there, they just need to be sharpened.
Olivia Hatcher SG- Arkansas Sting 2027 Baptist Prep-Olivia is long and athletic. She presents a mismatch at the guard position and can score at 3 levels. She has an excellent attitude and works hard to get better. She has the ability to defend at all 5 positions. Her skill set will challenge others for a spot at the varsity level this fall.
This group of student-athletes and families committed their summer to sharpen their skills and improve their game. It’s a testament to the work ethic of these athletes. Next up, is another list of impact performers from the class of 2027.
