Choosing the Freshman Second Team All-Showcase was tough in the sense the talent was abundant in the gym. The 2027 team is filled with players oozing with enthusiasm and love for the game. No doubt this class will continue to grow and develop as players but here are the next 5 that stood out on Saturday.

[player_tooltip player_id='616776' first='Joslynn' last='James'] #182 (5'3" Sterling) was one of my favorites at the showcase. She was knocking down long-range threes, hitting midrange pull-ups and making great passes. She has impressive ball handling skills and is a spot-on point guard. There were times when she played as though she was the only one on the court.

Maya Pereda #140 (5'6" Waubonsie Valley) was a worker. She is a solid player and was doing all the little things right. She was relentless on defense, tough, and was consistently boxing out. Stellar at getting the ball to the player with the best position on the court.

Hayden Fahy #136 (5'6" Maine South) is a stock-riser in the freshman class. She can put pressure on the ball and can handle pressure just as good. She uses her speed to steal passes and beat her opponents to the basket. Shooting from any spot on the court comes with ease and used that skill throughout the showcase.

[player_tooltip player_id='738935' first='Emme' last='Hernandez'] #117 (5'7" Boylan Catholic) has a ton of basketball IQ. She may not be the tallest girl on the court, but she was definitely a threat. Her court vision allows her the capability of understanding when to make a shot or find one of her teammates. She sees the court well and passes with precision.

[player_tooltip player_id='742367' first='Nina' last='Hendricksen'] #145 (5'7” Glenbard West) was a spitfire on Saturday. She can get to the basket and has an impressive vertical on defense. From the perimeter, she can catch and shoot 3s and she can drive to the basket just as easily.
