There were Point Guards with talented handles, Shooting Guards who looked like they have been playing varsity for years now, Forwards that were flying down the floor with elite pace, and Centers that were dominating the paint with their mixture of coordination + size.
Below I am going to highlight 5 point guards, in no particular order, that displayed their skill to the best of their ability on Sunday.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!

Kenzie Koch was one of the best point guards I saw on the day at the Indiana Freshman Showcase yesterday. Koch is a shifty facilitator when the ball is in her possession. She has the ability to attack her defender, going either way, while looking for a hole in the defense to score on. On several occasions she was mixing up her defender, looking to make a play for her team throughout their contest. Koch has a high ceiling on the basketball court. A player that can get to any spot she wants, at any moment, just needs to tighten up her efficiency moving forward. If she does that and physically grows a little bit over the next few seasons, she is going to be a handful to play against.
Laila Scott-Knox
Laila Scott-Knox
Laila Scott-Knox is a quick and agile point guard. She displays the ability to beat her defender off of the dribble a majority of the time because of her speed but understands when she has to change it up in order to get an open look at the hoop. I didn’t see a defender all day who could stay in front of Knox’s as she was coming down the floor. In the open court, it was impossible to stop her once she got to her full speed. I’m not sure if Knox will be in a position to play varsity next season, as I don’t know her high school teams returning roster but a player with this type of speed and change of direction in a blink of an eye is special. I’m excited to see what she can do over the next 4 years of high school ball.
Grace Scharlach
Grace Scharlach
A player that really surprised me on Sunday was Grace Scharlach. Scharlach is a scoring threat on the floor. An individual that is always looking to put the ball in the basket while being selfless enough to give an assist to an open teammate when it becomes available. Defensively she is just as good. Someone that gets over every screen seamlessly, is a stifling defender when she is guarding on the ball. Not to mention, that off the ball on help side she speaks just as much, trying to help her teammates out in any way possible. I have a feeling Scharlach is going to see the varsity floor as a freshman at her high school. With confidence and the understanding she has for the game, I could see a lot of success out of her this winter and moving forward.
Abigail Orme
Abigail Orme
Abigail Orme isn’t a player that is going to come down the floor and blow you away with flashy moves or dribbles. She is going to lead her team in their offense efficiently, get all of her teammates set up in the correct positions, and always help players around her understand a little bit better if they are struggling. On Sunday, Orme was the coach on the floor for her team in every contest they played. She was a difference maker on both sides of the ball and it showed. Looking forward, if a coach out there is looking for an efficient point guard, keep your eye on Orme. She has an “old school” game that translates well onto today’s floor.

Ava Wilson Ava Wilson 5’8″ | SF Shelbyville | 2024 IN ‘s game screams crafty guard. Wilson is a player to know. An individual that moves effortlessly down the floor with the basketball in her possession, while being a strategist for her perspective team when attacking. There isn’t many things that Wilson can’t do. She displayed that she was a pass-first guard all day on Sunday. Wilson has a nice ability to create off of the dribble, wether that creation ends in a pass or shot attempt for herself is a different story. Her ability is there. She has an act for being in the right spot at the right time, while being a solid defender on alike sized players that matchup across from her. I’m not sure what the future holds for Wilson but she has a nice ceiling from what I saw at this Showcase.
