Muskego Breaking Through in the Classic 8 and Beyond

Now that Kettle Moraine and Waukesha West graduated most of their scoring from last season, the first thing that people will think is that Arrowhead will be the runaway favorites, and I'd agree. However, I believe the Classic 8 could send two teams to the Resch Center this season, and Muskego could be one of them. The Warriors have had talented feeder teams for a while, and although not everyone got to Muskego's campus, the ones who have could get Muskego out of Sectional 4. [player_tooltip player_id='528116' first='Autumn' last='Dibb'] has the making of a scholarship-level guard/wing, and she's a kid who wants to win above all else. [player_tooltip player_id='337019' first='Addy' last='Zacher'] is a solid lead guard who can elevate this team at the point of attack, and junior [player_tooltip player_id='528122' first='Melena' last='Glysch'] had a breakout summer with [program_tooltip program_id='713043' first='Wisconsin' last='Impact']. Those kids alone can lead this team far in the postseason, but there's much more to this group. They have more experience than people think, and they've battled some of the best teams in the state over the past few years.

McDonell Catholic's Move to D4

The Macks finally got the state title in D5 last season, and now this year, they'll have to battle some high-level teams in D4 if they want another gold ball. Future Viterbo wing Marley Hughes played a significant role in that group, and the Macks will need to find someone to bring that consistent production. Seniors [player_tooltip player_id='209585' first='Emily' last='Cooper'] and Aubrey Dorn were excellent last season, but neither had Hughes' calming presence. Luckily for the Macks, Emily's younger sister EllaMay enters the fold this coming year. EllaMay's ability to create at the point of attack could determine crucial postseason games this coming February, and she's talented enough to help this team reach the mountaintop and compete with some of the expected powers in D4.

Does DSHA have a Suprise for D1?

In the last two seasons, nobody would've expected the Dashers to win a regional title. Nothing about their seasons would've led people to believe they could beat Homestead two seasons ago and Hartford last season. However, somehow someway, the Dashers managed to make it happen when it mattered most. DSHA has one of the most dynamic wings in the state in future Depaul Blue Demon [player_tooltip player_id='207069' first='Ally' last='Timm'], who can explode in any game scoring the ball, and one of the most intriguing forwards in the state, [player_tooltip player_id='338952' first='Karinna' last='Trotter']. Even though the Dashers have a new head coach, it's hard to bet against their recent postseason track record.

Can Menomonee Falls Take the Next Step into Title Contention?

Looking back at the top of the GMC, Germantown, and Brookfield East were two of the best, at worst, six teams in D1 last year. Since those two played in a state semifinal, most of the eyes and memories the public has will be regarding those two teams, which is fair. However, Menomonee Falls were two games clear of the fourth-placed DSHA last season and will get their four leading scorers back from a year ago. [player_tooltip player_id='374231' first='Clare' last='Shea'] was the second-highest scorer in the GMC, only behind KK Arnold a season ago. [player_tooltip player_id='602354' first='Sophie' last='Trimble'] was 0.1 rebounds away from averaging a double-double, [player_tooltip player_id='509704' first='Kate' last='Janssen'] had a productive summer with Playground Elite, and [player_tooltip player_id='329591' first='Jade' last='Warren'] is a talented defensive guard. The GMC will be one of the most unpredictable conferences this season.
