This 2027 group is absolutely loaded with talent. Team 1 was a group that was particularly full of incredible players and, if I’m not mistaken, I think they may have only lost one game all day. They really fed off of each other and it seemed like when one shooter got hot, they all got hot… and they had A LOT of shooters. Several members were on All-Tourney teams and links will be provided here if you want to check out those pieces.
She’s very gentle and sweet looking, isn’t she? Even when she’s giving you the business she’ll look at her teammates every once in a while and giggle or smile. She’s always having fun out there and, I mean, isn’t that kind of the point? Chloe is a hustler, she goes hard, but is almost always under control. She shines in transition where she is fast, but smooth. She has her eyes up reading things and always picking out the right pass or taking it herself and finishing strong at the rim. She put up some big point totals and it seemed like some games she was absolutely unstoppable from behind the arc. Chloe won All-Tourney Honorable Mention honors thanks to her tremendous effort.

I had been studying up on my freshmen heading into the showcase and Brylee was one that I was excited to get eyes on in person. I had guessed at her height, so she is a little shorter than I thought, but, oh well. You don’t have to be tall to shoot… and shoot she did. She shot the lights out… as did, well, basically everybody else on Team 1. What’s clear from seeing Brylee in a team environment is that she is knowledgeable about the game, she is a good teammate, and she really wants to win. She’s got a lot of the intangibles to go along with a will to work on her game incessantly. These are the kinds of players who are often the most fun to follow on their journey to college basketball.
I wrote about Brinley earlier, she was All-Showcase First Team.

Another player that I was really looking forward to seeing in person after having watched video of her in the weeks leading up to the showcase, Addison and Team 1 did not disappoint. Her team honestly didn’t have as much size down low as some others, but it was never a problem. Already a good sized guard, Addison shifted into a hybrid guard/forward/post player and showed great hands inside for receiving even the fastest passes into the post. I mean, it kind of makes sense, since she’s a guard. But, it was her ability to finish strong against the big bodies that was really impressive. Not surprisingly, she could also fill it up from long range. On the defensive end she was talkative and smart. She used her long arms to be disruptive and played the passing lanes very well.

Haidyn Campbell Haidyn Campbell 5’9″ Atoka | 2027 OK was one impressive player. As I’ve mentioned in other evals, this team was loaded, yet Haidyn found a way to stand out. Her shot is so easy and quick, it’s gotta be almost insulting to the defense. By the time they tuo see her get the shot off, they turn back the other way and their teammate is inbounding the ball to them. She is a long athlete, but is still fluid with her movements. She has a shooter’s touch, for sure. Her shot may be lightning fast, but it is pillowy soft and in the unlikely event that it doesn’t go in, the rebound isn’t heading into the stands. Defensively, she takes no plays off. Haidyn is a very fun player to watch and her high school games may end up being must-see!

Did I mention that Team 1 was loaded with shooters? Oh yeah, Lucchese can shoot it. There were some games where I was pretty sure she just wasn’t gonna miss. Her teammates were pretty sure, too, as they just kept feeding her and feeding her. The best part about her getting hot like that is that if her defender panics when they see her get ready to shoot, which they often do, she puts her foot in the ground and gets downhill in a hurry. She showed not only lightning fast speed, but the handles to get to the rim with ease over and over throughout the showcase. Under the tutelage of a Hall of Famer at Sapulpa, the sky’s the limit for this outstanding athlete!

Nakaya was yet another tremendous point guard for this team that, to be honest, probably should’ve been sharing some of these shooters with the other teams. She was chosen to be recognized as one of our GameChangers because of her ability to really shift the flow of the game with her confident ball handling and ability to control the game. One of the hardest workers on the floor, Nakaya was relentless on defense and made life really tough on her opponents. When she got hot from behind the arc, so did the rest of the team. That’s when her squad went up by double-digits and the other teams’ shoulders started to slump. Her team fed off of her emotion and the game changed… thus, the accolade. I know Stroud always has some big time guards out there and now I know who the next BIG TIME guard is!
