There are a LOT of great players in Oklahoma and as I’ve said about a million times before, I’m only one man. I’d love to be able to write about every player in the state, once or twice, every day. But, that’s not gonna happen. In fact, if you don’t reach out and just bring yourself to my attention, I may not ever write about you. I’d rather that not be the case, but there are literally thousands of players in this state. Don’t be afraid to stand out. Reach out. Announce your presence with authority!
Brooke-Lynn Norton
Brooke-Lynn Norton
Brooke-Lynn has the social media thing down, so it only makes sense to include her first on this edition of “Social Media Evals.” It’s also good to “discover” another 2027, especially as we look for more and more young players to invite to our Freshman Showcase later this month in OKC. Brooke-Lynn’s lefty stroke seems to throw a lot of defenders off guard and gives her that extra split second to get her jumper off. She can stroke it from deep, but better than that, she is unafraid to go hard to the basket. She takes a beating in the video that I’ve seen. I’ve also heard it from other scouts. This kid is tough. After she’s absorbed the punishment and usually made the basket, she drains the free throws and gets back to play some really good defense. This kid is definitely one to watch and I hope we’ll get to watch her at this month’s PGH Freshman Showcase!
I’ve written about Ava before, but in my time off she has switched high school teams and I think this move will be a really good one for her. I love the way that Holland Hall develops players and Ava already had plenty of talent to begin with. She is a really strong, tough player, but more than that she can absolutely shoot the lights out. One of her most recent posts on Twitter is about winning the three-point shooting contest while she was at Emporia State’s Camp. She has a plethora of moves to go along with the shooting and I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see her collect some big time offers this coming season. To be honest, I don’t know why she doesn’t already have a lot of them. She’s been showing out at some big time camps this summer.

The players in Social Media Evals might not always have social media themselves, but I still find a lot of video on social media. I actually saw Nykaiya play at a tournament about a month ago and made a note about her heart and how athletic she is. That’s why I decided to look today and see if I could find any video. I found this one. You can see from this that she is extremely athletic. Dillard racks up the blocks with some incredible bounce for a player her size. She is quick and agile and has some tremendous moves to get to the rim. I love the intensity that she plays with. You can see even just from the very brief video here that she is one of those players who just absolutely refuses to be denied. When she wants a bucket, she will get it.
Jennah Christian
Jennah Christian
Jennah is a very strong guard with good height who really excels at running the point. In fact, a lot of the posts on her social media are teammates posting videos (and tagging her) where she gives them a terrific pass in stride for them to hit a shot. She’s got the vision and plenty of zip on her passes to be a full-time Point Guard. She also has a great jump shot and moves well off the ball to set that shot up. She uses her strength well to muscle people inside and put a body on a body in order to secure a lot of rebounds. Christian is a really well-rounded guard who does a lot of things outside of “just guard stuff” that will help a team win. She really looks to be the total package.
I’ve written about Nellie several times before, but the fact that she’s heading into her senior season at Will Rogers and hasn’t found a home at the next level yet is borderline criminal. She is a phenomenal big who moves well and has really soft hands for receiving the ball inside. She uses her size well to get position and keep defenders off of the ball while she gets in position and almost always scores. Despite her size, she gets up and down the court well and when used properly by a coach that’s a good game manager, she will be a game changer for some team. She has plenty of skills under the rim and can even step out and shoot on occasion. Simmons is a prospect and somebody needs to take the opportunity to offer her very soon.
