The PGH Florida Freshman Showcase took place earlier this month and some of the state’s top Freshman assembled to compete against each other. Here are the top 10 stand outs at the event.
TOP GUARDS
Harmeni Eugene Harmeni Eugene 5'7" | PG Cardinal Gibbons | 2027 State FL
Eugene stood out as one of the most athletic players at the event for her long, slender build with quick, explosive first step that she used to attack aggressively off the bounce and get to the rim. She is a great up-tempo player that loves to attack in transition and play downhill to hunt the paint. She was consistently one of the top players in every game she played throughout the day!
Natalia Long
Long stood out as one of the top 1 on 1 players, using her excellent handle and open court moves to attack off the bounce and get by her defender and into the paint consistently. Her strong, solid build made her an extremely tough matchup and was one of the top scorers in every game she played.
Vanessa VanCott
VanCott was one of the most athletic and versatile guards at the showcase, who stood out as one of the top scorers and ballhandlers throughout the event. Her confidence with the basketball in her hands combined with her versatility to play multiple guard positions, made her one of the biggest standouts of the event! She scored at multiple levels and was one of the events top scorers!
Iniya Reddicks Iniya Reddicks 5'7" | SG Deltona | 2027 State FL
Reddick is an elite level player who stood out for her well-rounded offensive skill set showcasing her ability to put the ball in the basket in a variety of ways. She was one of the few players who attacked off the bounce, knocked down open 3s, scored in the paint, at the rim, as well as off mid-range pull ups.
Eadyn Rivera
Rivera stood out as one of the strongest perimeters players, playing tough and aggressive and competing on every possession! Her strength combined with her aggressive play was impressive and stood out amongst some of the top Freshman in the state. Her consistent effort and desire to win every possession all made her one of the events top performers and standouts.
TOP WINGS
Ameera Kone Ameera Kone 6'0" | PG Boca Raton | 2027 State FL
Kone stood out for her body and size in a gym full of talented Freshman ballers, Kone height, build, and strength for upper level. Playing exclusively on the perimeter she was bigger and stronger than her opponents in every game and used to consistently be one of the top scorers. Her well-rounded offensive skill set was upper tier and made her a challenging offensive player to guard.
Hill stood out as a versatile wing with great size and skill and her high basketball IQ and efficient play on the offensive end. Very few players in the showcase were able to impact the game in so many aspects of the game in such an efficient manner. Hill scored off the bounce, knocked down open 3s, move the ball with the pass and cutting to the rim without the ball. She was one of the top perimeter rebounders and shot an exceptional percentage from the field.
TOP FORWARDS
Jordyn Baker Jordyn Baker 5'10" | PF Palm Bay | 2027 State FL
Baker stood out for her size and versatility, playing inside and out on both sides of the ball. She did not excel in any one area but was one of the most well-rounded players throughout the event and extremely consistent. She scored in the paint, rebounded on both ends, played extremely hard with consistent energy and competitiveness.
Asiana McCreary Asiana McCreary 6'1" | SF Bartram | 2027 State FL
In an event full of talented perimeter players, McCreary dominated down low and stood out for great size and ability to post up on the low block and score in the paint. Standing out for her size and strength, she also showed her versatility and athleticism that are high level for a front court player.
Amaya Canady Amaya Canady 6'0" | C Bishop Kenny | 2027 State FL
Canady stood out as the biggest and strongest player at the event. Her presence down low, and in the paint was gigantic and allow her to dominate the interior. She was one of the events top rebounders and low post scorers, making her almost impossible to guard when securing position in the paint and on the block.
