Ameera Kone’ has been a staple in the 2027 rankings, and her talents were revealed as early as the Freshman Expo. There, Kone displayed her versatility as a player. Blessed with a college frame, she showed an ability to mix it up on the glass, score through contact, and connectr in the midrange area. Kone’ has definitely shown her versatility as a player – running point, playing the two, playing on the wing, and showcasing a scoring touch from each position. Kone shoots the ball well from the three-point line and put on a shooting expedition in the state semifinals. She can also run the break on the wing or lead the break with the ball in hand. Kone has been consistent the past few years and has helped the class maintain the standard they created early on.

Kone impresses me every time I watch her play with her height and length, strength and power, and skill scoring the basketball. This game saw something totally new from Kone for me and that was her running the show as Duval Elite’s point guard for a majority of their game versus SLAAM-Wraten and doing it well. She controlled the pace of the game when Duval Elite had possession of the ball, used her strength to create space (on one play back her defender down on the fast break before executing a nice spin move and short fade away jumper), and excellent footwork to blow by bigger, slower defenders on the perimeter. She was very good finding open teammates sprinting out ahead on the break and hit the on time and on the money in a position to score.

Ameera continued to prove why she’s one of the top players in Florida’s 2027 class with her performances this weekend. In the semifinals, she poured in 24 points on an efficient 8-for-14 shooting while adding 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and committing ZERO turnovers. She followed that up with an even more efficient outing in the state championship game, finishing 5-for-7 from the field with 11 points and 6 rebounds in fewer minutes. Her versatility created problems for opponents all weekend and will continue to do so this summer. At her size, her ability to stretch the floor and impact the game in multiple ways makes her a strong recruit who can cause problems at the next level. She also leaves Jacksonville as a newly crowned state champion.

In a high-profile game like this, you need someone who can score, rebound, pass, force turnovers, and play multiple positions. Ameera is that player. She is consistently close to a double-double and is capable of putting up a triple-double as well. If she isn’t neutralized, her impact can quickly shift the momentum and put the game out of reach..
