I’ve been thinking about the kids that are still improving. Kids get complacent, and they begin to cruise.
I know some kids that have gotten that label. From the minimal things I know about them, it is usually more about them not loving basketball as much as others. Falling out of love with basketball gets lost in the shuffle more than people realize. Kids at a young age can decide they like playing another sport and stop playing basketball altogether. A good example is Kyla Dunaway. I will not say I know her situation well, but she loved volleyball more than basketball and ended up playing volleyball at Alabama, which is okay. I am sure she was an elite basketball player for most of her youth but eventually decided it was not for her anymore. For every story like that, multiple kids stick with it, even though they may not love playing basketball, so I always think of those situations with caution. There is usually more to those stories.
Who do you see out there that are poised for a big HS season? The kids who are working hard and had solid AAU seasons.
I have talked about Katelyn McGinnis Katelyn McGinnis 5'10" | CG Kimberly | 2025 State WI a lot this summer, but she is the one I would single out of the bunch. Nobody was as surprised as she was. If McGinnis plays to the level she can, there is a world where Kimberly wins the FVA and is a D1 title contender.
Below is a list of returners I think could take significant jumps in production this season.

What do you think Aquinas’ record will be?
From looking at their schedule, I notice two things. One is they are heading to Minnesota again for a few games, and I do not know Jordan or Mayer Lutheran, and those games will show the same regardles for seeding at the end of the season. Two, is the only two times I could see them losing in Wisconsin before the state tournament would be at the Beaver Dam event to open the season, and I am unsure who they play there, but they could lose to Xavier at the Holiday Classic at Watertown. If I had to guess, they could be anywhere from 22-2 to 24-0 heading into the postseason.
