Are you a 2024-2026 prospect looking to compete against the best Michigan has to offer? Register for the PGH Top 250 Expo taking place on Sep. 23rd.
Ava Weber Ava Weber 5’3″ | PG Port Huron | 2025 State MI first caught my attention at the David Barns showcase this summer. She showed off those skills once again at the U of M Dearborn showcase. Ava has the positive energy and attitude you want from a prospect, she encouraged other athletes throughout the day, and was high fiving others on the court. Ava has phenomenal ball handling skills; she snaps the ball quickly behind her back and can control the ball with either hand. Ava drove into traffic and finished at the rim with her right. She had steals, deflections, assists, and hit jumpers at all three levels. Ava dribbles with speed and keeps her head up to see teammates in transition. Ava is an outstanding basketball prospect who will continue to shine for Port Huron.
Serien Issa
Serien Issa
Serien Issa was not on my radar until today. Finding girls like her who have not been out in the travel circuit and have the attitude, passion, and skills to play at the next level is who showcases are all about. Serien stepped into the spotlight today and played a lead role. I will share my notes on her day with you: top of the key 3 point pull-up, pure shooter, dribble into defenders chest and finish two hands, corner 3, pure pull up jumper off dribble or the catch, precise lateral slides and leader in defensive shell, and top of key all net 3 off the catch. Serien has the natural shooting ability, on court communication, defensive determination, and complete skills to play next level basketball and she is a 2024 schools should seriously consider reaching out to.
Iliana Williams Iliana Williams 5’9″ | SG Port Huron | 2024 State MI is a 2024 G/F who stood out as one of the stronger performers during the afternoon session. She was clearly the most vocal and spirited prospect on the court and that raised the competition level of all the girls in the gym. One of her most impressive sequences Sunday was when she swatted a ball out of bounds with a left-handed volleyball follow through. Iliana finished many times in traffic around the rim off of two feet and she has a determination to finish every play. Iliana can score at all three levels and her energy will definitely be an asset for whomever she chooses to play for following her senior season at Port Huron.
Brynn Butler Brynn Butler 5’9″ | SF Jenison | 2027 State MI is a 2027 who dazzled scouts at our PGH Freshman showcase a few weeks ago. If anyone questions whether this kid can do what she did against upperclassmen, those questions were satisfied today. She went toe to toe with top prospects in her session, did not back down, and shined. Brynn plays hard and well on both ends, she blocks shots, attacks the rim and finishes, drives into a controlled jump stop, and finishes strong with contact around the rim Brynn drained a step back 3 pointer off the dribble and showed her determination on misses by fighting for the offensive rebound and drawing a fould or finishing for a bucket. Brynn continues to show how special a prospect she is and will be a force this upcoming season for a stout Jenison squad.
Jaidyn Woods Jaidyn Woods 5’9″ | CG Detroit Edison | 2025 State MI was the most explosive and powerful player during the afternoon session Sunday. She made many 3-point shots from spots around the perimeter, but can equally put her foot down and get downhill whenever she wants. Jaidyn had an impressive high finish at the rim and is athletically fast and strong. Her closeout speed on passes intimidates offensive players and she pressures the ball with a relentless motor. Jaidyn is a prospect who will keep impressing at Edison this upcoming season.
Kara was one of the top performing posts at the David Barns event a few weeks ago and she once again showed why she is a post everyone wants to watch. Her seals and positioning to receive entry passes was impressive and had me saying “throw her the ball!” Kara chased after an offensive rebound and crashed the boards which resulted in a layup. She showed her toughness after taking a poke to the eye and playing through the pain. Straub can shoot the ball, pass, defend, and do anything to help her team succeed. Kara is a prospect I want to keep seeing more of in the future.
Ravyn is a 2024 CG who definitely stands out as an athlete whenever she hits the hardwood. Ravyn showed an explosive burst offensively today and finished layups with either hand at top speed. She causes problems for defenders because of her speed and knocked down an impressive step back contested jumper. Ravyn uses her strength and speed as a ball handler to create space off the dribble and then hit her pull up jumpers from mid and deep range. Ravyn is a 2024 CG who will impress wherever she decides to play following her senior season at Carman Ainsworth.
Lapeer County Cobras Spotlight
Every coach has to brag on their own now and again. I am so thankful to have student-athletes in my program who love the game and want to compete at events like this.
Harlee is a 2026 SG from Brown City and is an outstanding vocal leader, on-ball/help defender, and passer. She fits the mold of a coach’s glue player who will do anything for the team to be successful. She made some assists today and secured rebounds on both ends of the court.
Madison is a 2026 CG from Lapeer who has attended a few showcases but really hit her stride Sunday as one of the more vocal and determined defenders on the floor. She has a passion for the game and put up over 3,000 made shots in July to improve her shooting accuracy. She moved well, cutting to open space on offense. One of her best plays came when she fought for an inside position on a shot and high-pointed the ball for a rebound. Madison applied excellent ball pressure and created steals, which led to assists for her.
Dakota Deel Dakota Deel 5'7" | CG Dryden | 2024 State MI is a 2024 SG from Dryden who made an impression on coaches at David Barns with her strong rebounding, perimeter shooting accuracy, court vision, finishing moves, and passing ability. Dakota used a high ball rip on her way to the rim Sunday and was one of the better help-side defenders on the court. She is a high-energy, high-effort, and skilled prospect who will be an excellent addition at the college level following her senior season.
