Prep Girls Hoops will stage its annual Top 250 Expo at the home of the 7A Jaguars this weekend. Similar Top 250 Expos will also take place in Nebraska and Wisconsin.
We have done previous previews that looked at the senior and junior talent that will be on the scene this weekend. Next up is the sophomore standouts.
At an even six feet, Bardenwerper is slated to be one of the taller participants at this year’s Prep Girls Hoops Alabama Top 250 Expo. Bardenwerper was part of a 6A Northridge team that last season finished with a 23-11 record. JSI Platinum 16U was the travel team she ran with throughout this past spring and summer and it was the team that won the 16U championship at the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit’s Triumph Region Finals in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Bardenwerper also participated at Peach Games – another Prep Girls Hoops event – and put together another impressive outing.
Highlights
Ford’s AAU resume happens to include a stint playing alongside the OMG Elite team. Ford’s high school resume includes playing for one of the premier programs in Alabama in 7A Hoover. The Buccaneers have won the last three 7A state championships. She will be another one of the taller participants at this year’s Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Expo as she stands at an imposing 6-foot-4. Much of Ford’s work as a big is done in the interior and she has no issues drawing contact that can place her at the free throw line. She also provides plenty of problems for opposing teams as a defender.
Zoey Little
Zoey Little
The only thing that may be Little about her game is her last name. The 5-foot-10 standout from 6A Shades Valley was part of a 2022-23 Mounties rendition that finished with a 17-5 record last season. Little may be 5-foot-10, but she combines plenty of height with a potent jump shot. She understands how to set herself up in the right areas behind the arc that will put her in position to launch successful attempts from three. Another noteworthy element to her game is how her defense can put her in position to create additional possessions for her team as well as how she can make things happen in the transition game.
KeLeigh Mullens
KeLeigh Mullens
To say that last season was a banner campaign for Mullens’ 7A Prattville team would be an understatement. The Lions finished with a 20-3 record in 2022-23 and made a deep run in last season’s playoffs before running into the juggernaut that is Hoover. Mullens is listed at 5-foot-5. The defense she plays can cause problems for opposing ball carriers and it can lead to them becoming turnover prone. Mullens is an efficient scorer who can also corral her fair share of rebounds and puts her teammates in position to contribute via her efficient passes. Accuracy from behind the arc and fastbreak baskets are two other notable elements to her game.
