This article continues with our Class of 2025 update as we make our climb through the top 50 junior prospects in New Jersey. We start with prospects No. 26-30.
No. 26: Precious Wheeler Precious Wheeler 6'3" | PF Franklin | 2025 NJ – PF, Franklin
Wheeler has been an incredibly exciting player to watch over the past few months alone, let alone what she’s done on the basketball floor through her first two high school seasons. She’s rivaled just about anyone when it comes to college offers and interest, receiving a plethora of Division I offers because of her raw talent and ability, and her ceiling as a prospect. She dazzled with Franklin as a sophomore, her defense really standing out above the rest, and this season should be no different, if not much better.
No. 27: Kayla Butler Kayla Butler 5'7" | SF Payne Tech | 2025 State NJ – SF, Payne Tech
Looks like an extra four games, or rather, another full season of high school basketball, was just what butler needed to turn from a good player to a great player to now, an incredible player. Her sophomore year at Payne Tech saw her average just under 20 points a game, along with four steals and roughly seven rebounds per. Butler, above all, showcased the nightmare that she can be for opponents, going to the foul line more than 150 times in a season, knocking down roughly 80 percent of her free throws.
No. 28: Taylor Francis Taylor Francis 5'8" | SG Pingry | 2025 State NJ – SG, Pingry
She’s dominant on the softball field, but might be that much more dominant on the basketball court. Francis is coming off a career season across the board for Pingry, a complementary shooter with plenty of room to grow in that regard, and a smooth operator inside the perimeter and close to the basket. When Pingry needed a shot to fall or wanted a chance to do something in the closing seconds of a game, it was Francis they went to, and that won’t change a bit next season, her junior season.
No. 29: Juliana O’Dowd Juliana O’Dowd 5'8" | PG Montville | 2025 State NJ – PG, Montville
It’s safe to say that O’Dowd’s first season with Montville wasn’t a bad one at all. The guard certainly made her worth felt and known, scoring just over 10 points a game while playing strong defense and being a complementary piece on the glass. Her passing has certainly turned heads, though we would love to see her develop more as a facilitator as well as a scorer. O’Dowd plays the game with a certain level of comfortability that not many else have, stemming from immense composure and confidence.
No. 30: Rainelle Blocker Rainelle Blocker 5'9" | PF Clayton | 2025 State NJ – PF, Clayton
Our last player to discuss in this article had herself a 2022-23 season to remember for Clayton, nearly averaging a double-double as she scored 17.6 points a game and hauled in 8.4 rebounds a game. Blocker’s presence on the interior was one that dictated the offense as she commanded it. Things went through her in the middle and branched out from that point, showing just how big of a presence Blocker has been able to obtain through her play. She’s a top-end forward within New Jersey, no doubt.
