Cox Mill HS in Concord will once again be the site of a major Prep Girls Hoops event. Last week, the home of the 4A Chargers played host to the Carolinas Freshman Showcase. This weekend, the Top 250 comes to town.
It is only fitting that a few days after the completion of the event that put 2027s in the spotlight that we start our preview series looking at a few 2026s.
The Huskies of 4A Hough will be well-representated this weekend. Breault will be one of three from the Huskies will be take part in this year’s Top 250 Expo. Breault posted a stellar freshman campaign averaging six points and 4.5 rebounds in the 27 games she played for Hough. She is a threat to score from 3-point range and can create extra possessions for her team with the steals she can corral. Prep Girls Hoops became familiar with Breault during the spring and summer. She played for Team Griggs 16U during the travel season and made an appearance during the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit at the Triumph Region Finals at Spartanburg’s Upward Star Center.
Highlights
Fore will be representing a South Carolina school at this year’s North Carolina Top 250 Expo. The Indians of Westminster Catawba Christian play in a North Carolina conference – the NCISAA to be exact. Fore also has previously worn the navy blue uniform of 5A Clover – also in the Palmetto State. She is listed at 5-foot-9 and will be part of a Westminster Catawba Christian team that lost only two seniors from the 2022-23 rendition. Fore can play either at the four as a power forward or at the five. She is the lone representative from Westminster Catawba Christian that will be on hand at the Top 250 Expo.
Ortscheid will not have far to travel to get to this year’s Prep Girls Hoops North Carolina Top 250 Expo as she plays for another county team in the 3A Trojans of Northwest Cabarrus. She is another of the taller participants at this year’s event as she stands at 5-foot-11. Ortscheid is a multi-sport athlete as she also plays volleyball in addition to her hoops exploits. She delivers all-out hustle and never takes a play off. That height advantage comes in handy particularly in the rebounding game and if one word could encapsulate her game, it would be “tough.” She plays for Lady Attack Elite 2026 National during the travel season.
Research Triangle-based NC GBB has one of the premier basketball programs in the entire Hoop State. Prep Girls Hoops got a glimpse of the young up-and-comer at a camp at Queens University. Defensively, she is difficult to score on as she is a threat to reject shots. Rebounding is another strong element to her game. Richardson plays with plenty of confidence and has no problems calling for the ball when she believes she can make a play – those of which she makes plenty of. She had a stellar season on the travel scene with Carolina All-Stars 2026 and is hoping to translate that into more good fortunes this season with NC GBB.
