Pernell sat out last high school season due to transfer rules, but she made sure to make her mark during grassroots season. Pernell really could explode back on the high school scene with a talented Arbor Prep team this winter. She’s an athletic wing that can attack the rim in transition and in a half court set.
Bonner will be a highlight player this winter. She reopened her recruitment this summer and that immediately puts a very high level prospect back on the board for college coaches. Bonner is so strong with both hands. The thing I noticed with her this summer was her ability to throw, and accuracy with, her skip pass with either hand.

Richards and her Lansing Catholic team are coming straight off a state championship. She was a huge reason why. In one of the best games of the state playoffs in any division against Westfield Prep, Richards was the difference maker. Her length on the glass and her ability to shoot the 3 ball at an extremely high percentage was the biggest key to that game. We’ll all be waiting to see if her and teammates can play it back this season.
Freshcorn is another player that missed last season due to transfer rules. She will be at Columbia Central for her senior season and it looks like a great fit. Coach Cole has shown that he can develop talent and send players to the next level. Freshcorm has shown consistently over the course of grassroots basketball that she can match up with elite lead guards. I’ve seen her go toe-to-toe and shot for shot with D1 talent. She should be a huge addition for Columbia Central this season.

East Grand Rapids loses a generational star in Miss Basketball’s Macy Brown. But Brown did her best to help prepare the next players up. Millman will be one of the players that shoulders a much bigger load this coming season. She’ll see the ball in her hands a lot more, both as a primary ball handler and as a scorer. Millman’s excellent perimeter defense will play a big role in EGR’s success next season. She also has very good talent around her like Mollie Brandstadt that will help carry the team.
