Aliviah Ball Aliviah Ball 5'10" | SF Wheatland-Grinnell | 2027 State KS , 5’10”, F, Wheatland-Grinnell – Ball joins a Thunderhawk team that finished .500 last season. Among the nation’s – yes that is correct – best high jumpers the past two seasons Ball brings height, length, and – yes – hops to the court. Selected to the Battle in the Sunflower 14U second team. My colleague Simmie Colson loved her handles, hustle, shot blocking, and ability to go coast-to-coast off rebounds. My colleague Ji Kim also highlighted the smoothness with which she plays and her rebounding. She may just push the Thunderhawks need to push them into the division II state tournament.
Camden Franklin Camden Franklin 5'6" | CG Rawlins County | 2027 State KS , 5’6″, CG, Rawlins County – Franklin joins a 13-win team with a pair of returning all-conference players. Moving back down to division I, the Buffaloes gain a athletic, quick guard who fits into the transition game well with her speed.
Josie Havercamp Josie Havercamp 6'0" | PF Centralia | 2027 State KS , 6’0″, PF, Centralia – Havercamp is part of a few incoming freshman expected to impact the Panthers success this season. Havercamp brings size, length, and mobility to one a strong team whose losses, except one, were to teams with five losses or less. Those include division I champ Doniphan West (3x), division I third place Frankfort, and division II champ Hanover. I expect her to step in and contribute right away.
Taylor McCarty Taylor McCarty 5'8" | PG Cheylin | 2027 State KS , 5’8″, F, Cheylin – I wrote in July that McCarty will make a lot of noise in the world of small school, western Kansas basketball. Using her solid size and strength she scores well out of face-up and back-to-basket situations. What stands out the most, however, is how smart and composed she is on the floor. McCarty battles, bangs, and just plays like she has been facing highly experienced and athletic opponents for years.

Kiasia Allen Kiasia Allen 5'5" | CG The Independent School | 2027 State KS , 5’5″, CG, The Independent School – At times over the summer Allen could be found defending inside due to her stature. And she worked hard to do so with physicality. She has good strength and handles but what is likely deceiving to some is her quickness. Allen’s quickness actually shows more on the defensive end. Definitely one to watch as she has the potential to be very, very good.
Zoey Buckner-Franklin Zoey Buckner-Franklin 5'3" | PF The Independent School | 2027 State KS , 5’3″, CG, The Independent School – Kansas scout Adrian Maloney describes Buckner-Franklin as a shifty guard with speed and motor who “can flat at go!” He says she “can score AT WILL,”, sees the floor very well, and gets teammates involved with tight passes. While she is a scoring threat with range watch for improved consistency as the Panthers claw their way through the Central Plains League.
Sophie Gould Sophie Gould 5'8" | CG Syracuse | 2027 State KS , 5’6″, CG, Syracuse – Gould joins a Bulldog team looking to improve upon a 7-win season. With the graduation of a pair of all-league players Gould will get ample opportunity. Just scratching the surface of her developing skill set Gould has some handling ability off the bounce and with control in transition. I really like her use of big steps and extension on finishes.
Piper Schroeder Piper Schroeder 5'4" | PG Halstead | 2027 State KS , 5’4″, PG, Halstead – Schroeder joins a maturing Dragons team and a deep Central Kansas League with every first team selection returning. Slender and agile Schroeder handles very well in transition. She also makes strong use of crossovers to get by defenders. She finishes at speed as well. While I have not seen her perimeter shooting ability Schroeder will be one to watch get bigger, stronger, and grow her already strong game.
