Emma Maley, 5’7 G – Burlington H.S. Class of 2027
One of the most skilled and high-IQ players in her class, Emma’s combo-guard abilities can’t go overlooked. She’s a natural initiator of the offense, balancing her scoring with her distributing quite easily. Her jumper is strong off both the bounce and catch, and her slashing continues to improve. A high-IQ defender with nice anticipation, Maley should be able to break the rotation, but BHS is chock full of guards and wings as it stands. I’m interested to see how she’s utilized come winter.
Mya Lumsden, 5’7 G – Hazen Union H.S. Class of 2027
Lumsden is a hardnosed guard who leans defensively. Mya’s on-ball defense is stifling with her lengthy wingspan and foot speed. Moreover, she’s smart away from the ball and can disrupt with her weak side help to the middle, or by jumping passing lanes. Offensively Mya’s a gluey presence with sound movement and smart decision making. I could see her becoming an strong role player on a Hazen team looking to avenge a Semis loss.
Ally Doorman, 5’7 G – Mount Mansfield Union H.S. Class of 2027
A plug-and-play guard, Doorman’s smarts and feel make her an effortless fit. Ally’s a heady player who makes an offense click with her decision making as a timely passer and an efficient scorer. She makes those better with her court vision and distribution, plus, her shooting off the catch is sound. Smart defensively with a measured approach, Ally is in every play and happily does the little things to impact winning.
Mae Yankevitch, 5’8 G – Burlington H.S. Class of 2027
Mae, a natural PG with a potent slashing touch, is another incoming BHS guard. Yankevitch leads the offense with her aggressiveness; she makes plays out of the second layer consistently, forcing tough defensive rotations to stop her from finishing or hitting a teammate with a clean look. Plus, she grinds defensively and has nice height/length to bother shots and passing lanes. Mae plays hard and plays through any mistakes with a confidence not often seen. I’ll be interested to see how her season shakes out.
