The state is HUGE yet with the incoming freshman coupled with transfers, at times I’m clueless about all of this, UNTIL I SEE IT WITH MY OWN EYES. I caught Hitchcock at the Girls TABC Showcase and boy oh boy, was I impressed and here’s why
Kimora Carroll Kimora Carroll 5'6" | CG Hitchcock | 2026 State TX -5’6 G (2026)
Carroll is one of the top players in her class, she has shown that she can take over games from both ends numerous times that I’ve caught her, and when you factor in she’s a “long and athletic” guard that applies “on the ball pressure baseline to baseline and uses her quick hands to come away with steals, well that says a lot but so does her anticipation skills and watching her play the passing lane is very nice. She can see the floor in transition, as well as in the set but what I am overly impressed with is how she creates her shot under pressure and knocks it down, also under pressure, from mid to long-range. Her first step is powerful and she finishes after contact, acrobatically at times
Slyiah Johnson Slyiah Johnson 5'11" | SG Hitchocok | 2026 State TX -5’8 G (2026)
Johnson is one of the top scorers in her class as she simply finds ways to put the ball into the basket. She has range, sets the defender up nicely to get her shot off and nails it over the outstretched arms of the defender but peep this. She also has shown she can not only drop the stop and pop in transition but her “catch and shoot” while being defended also creates some problems. She can score in droves, she attacks off the dribble and uses her frame to overpower smaller guards yet she rebounds, on both ends and can score over taller players not only around the basket but on putbacks as well. Her defense is solid, both in the paint and outside of it plus she has good court vision

OTHER NOTABLES
I mentioned this about LaVega yesterday and one more time when you have an abundance of guards that can create havoc on the defensive end to go along with some solid scorers, well that’s a very sound foundation, and these key players fir into that mode, including the freshmen who I’ll be enjoying watching their on the court progression
