I messaged with Coach Hudson and the excitement over the past success was apparent! I truly believe that this year the excitement can continue! Let’s dive a little deeper! It was the first back-to-back winning seasons in a decade. 12-3 home record, third consecutive seasons with a winning record at home! Dominating on their home court will be something to continue this season too!
Prospects to know:
Kaybrie Patterson – Coach Hudson referred to this one as a gym rat! Patterson has highlights all over her Twitter page so if you can’t get out to watch this one live, go watch her highlights! They speak for themselves! Great ball handler, Extremely high IQ, quick first step that allows her to get to the rim with ease, & she defends at the highest level! Patterson’s junior season is one for everyone to watch! Sophomore season stats: 424 pts, 149 rebs, 137 assts, 85 stls, and 13 blks.
Haylee Dunmoyer – I know the team has to be excited for this addition! Dunmoyer is an outstanding defender with a high IQ! Extremely basketball savvy! Haylee plays more physical than most. This type of physicality helps her attack the rim! The junior will definitely be one to step in and make an instant impact!
Victoria Wright – Coach Hudson also referred to this one as a “gym rat” & what I can tell you is that I’ve seen this one in numerous gyms all summer long! Wright, the unsigned senior, is due a huge senior season. Victoria can definitely help a team at the next level. Super smart on and off the court! Plays a style of defense that you will love to see! Junior season stats: 289 pts, 220 rebs, 64 assts, 50 stls, and 13 blks.
Maya Barnhill is out with an unexpected return date. Remember, “The comeback is ALWAYS stronger than the setback” Maya has an extremely bright future on or off the court!
All players including Julia Atchley, Abigail Blair, Louise McCaffrey, Lindsay Luhn, (& the list goes on) will play a pivotal role in the teams success!
Coach Hudson said it best for his Maryville Christian team, “As for the team as a whole, we pride ourselves on playing tough defense and balanced team offense. We want to take advantage of mismatches/weaknesses identified through film study, but we want as many girls involved as possible. Being a smaller school/team, we have to do all of the little things right, work smarter, and look for every opportunity, on both ends of the floor, to give us an edge.”
I have no doubt that Coach Hudson will have his team prepared! Best of luck to all of the coaching staff & players! I’ll definitely be out to watch a few games!
College coaches should take note that Coach Hudson has athletes on his team that CAN play at the next level!
