The talent pool is certainly not lacking with depth, with deep history and tradition of great guards from the past, this 2024 class has the makings to be great. These guards are strong in almost every facet of the game. They can shoot, pass, attack, and defend at an elite level. Our preseason previews across New York will continue in the next series highlight the depth and buzz that they will bring when they step on the court this season. Let’s take a look in no particular order.
South Shore, 5’4 PG 2024: Uncommitted
I have been following Little since I watched her in the PSAL State Title game back in March where she sliced up Susan Wagner and NY POY, Nicole Melious on the defensive end. Coming off an impressive summer circuit, I’m not really sure why Little just finally cracked the Top 100 nationally. She remains uncommitted and whoever lands her, is going to get a gamer that can help transform their program. Although undersized, she plays with heart and determination on both ends mixed with the talent and leadership she possesses, and it should set up for a dynamic final senior season. Expecting big things from Little this season.
Long Island Lutheran, 5’9 CG 2024: Uncommitted
Heckel is the reigning state player of the year and for a good reason. She is the complete package and leads the high octane Long Island Lutheran attack along with Kate Koval Kate Koval 6’5″ | PF LuHi | 2024 State NY and Syla Swords Syla Swords CG LuHi | 2024 State NY . She has a lot of talent on this roster (including Madison Francis Madison Francis 6’2″ | SF Lancaster High | 2025 State NY ) and they play true team basketball, she has done an amazing job keeping everyone on that team engaged and contributing when she needs to. Heckel has that X factor that you want as a lead guard. She has an explosive first step and unlimited confidence to score from all levels on the court.
Rutgers Prep (NJ), 6’0 G 2024: Uncommitted
Blakes is a top ten recruit in the nation and for good reason. She is elite on both ends of the floor and a program elevator for whoever ends up signing her. She has all tools to be dominant for years to come and is a gamer. She is a gamer who can create her own space to get her shot off. She’s very accurate from the perimeter, and has really nice shooting mechanics, quick release, and a fluid follow through on her shot. She has great athleticism, lateral footwork, and active hands to be one of the best on ball defenders in the nation. She can get to the basket with ease and will always look to run the floor on the break for easy buckets.
Life Center Academy (NJ), 5’9 G 2024: Uncommitted
McMiller is just scratching the surface of how good she can be. Her game is elite in all levels and her trajectory looks limitless. She has ankle breaking handle and create space whenever she wants. Her court vision makes her a dangerous playmaker with all the double teams she attracts. She is a pure scorer at all three levels. She is physical and can get after it on defense, will be a lockdown defender at next level and there’s no ceiling on how good she can be. Loves to run in open court and push the break.
