I have been on the road all spring/summer watching high level AAU. Between last season in high school and AAU there is not a girl in my top 26 that I have not seen in person at least twice. I view “North Jersey” as north of the Raritan River. If you play for a high school in that area, you were considered for my Top 26 in the Class of 2026. You’ve been waiting for it so here is the 1st half of my top 10.
#6 – When Sidney is on the floor her offensive skills are very noticeable. She scores in a variety of ways. She is just as comfortable at the 3-point line where her 2 3pg per game as a freshman at Roselle Catholic led the team while being their 2nd leading overall scorer. A quick first step off the dribble allows her to get into the paint almost at will where she can finish in a variety of ways. She hits the box score in so many ways as she was also 2nd on the team in assists and steals at Roselle Catholic and she was the leader for Team Sharp all summer. Scoring and distributing on offense and disrupting on D, Sidney is a force in the backcourt.
#7 – Sophia is fun to watch. Plays non-stop and with no fear every second she is on the court. A true combo guard, she played off the ball early in the AAU season with United Select 40 and finished as their primary ball handler while leading them in scoring for the summer. She is not afraid to get in the paint and finish with a variety of moves. She has a nice lefty stroke from 3 and her confidence from long range grew throughout the summer. She goes hard in transition and, as a freshman, was 2nd on the team in rebounds, assists and steals while finishing 3rd in scoring at Ridge HS. Defensively, she works hard on the ball and gets in the mix on the glass. Even at 5’7″ she has long arms and contests and blocks shots on dribble drive. I’d expect a huge jump in numbers as a sophomore at Ridge HS.
#8 – The only thing holding this girl back is the glut of talent ahead of her on the Morris Catholic roster. That being said, the way she plays she’s tough to keep off the court and that was obvious will playing with the HUrban Legends of NJ this summer. She was playing up on the 17u team at the Run 4 Roses and was scoring in double digits. A strong frame and strong handle, she gets in paint with speed and strength and can finish over people with a nice floater game and by finishing through contact. She is comfortable playing off the ball offensively and her 3-point shot keeps getting better. Defensively, she plays with an attitude and constantly works hard to disrupt opposing offenses. Even with a loaded Morris Catholic team, I’d be surprised if Kamaria wasn’t a key part of the rotation this season.
#9 – Toni can guard every position on the floor. Whether on the ball, blitzing screens or defending the post she took away the opponent’s best players all summer for United 15u Select 40. As one of the top all-around defenders in the Class of 2026, she defends with physicality and constantly puts pressure on the offense. She holds position on the defensive glass and is always on the floor for loose balls. Offensively, she became a go to scorer this summer with a variety of moves and strong footwork in the post, a jumper consistent out to 3-point range, and the ability to put it on the deck and get to the rim in the halfcourt or transition. She is a relentless offensive rebounder. If she doesn’t get a putback she keeps possessions alive for her team. Her development this summer should help her become a big part of the Ramapo HS rotation this winter.
Highlights
#10 – Gabriella is a true PG. She was a key contributor off the bench for the Jersey Gemz 15u EYBL Champions this summer. As a freshman at Demarest she pretty much did everything on the floor leading the team in scoring, 3-pointers, assists and steals while finishing 2nd in rebounding. Mittelman has no problem handling full court pressure and beats it while staying in control and making great decisions with the ball. She plays the game with a high IQ which allows her to take advantage of teams in the Big North Conference and fit in in the EYBL world. She has a nice stroke from 3-point range and though undersized, she can still get in the paint and finish among taller opponents or draw the defense and dish to open teammates. With a stronger supporting cast at Demarest this season, Gabriella should lead the Norsemen to a strong season.
