Juliana was the Expo MVP and it wasn’t really close. Her versatility was unmatched. She showed great patience with the ball on offense by waiting for the right opportunity to attack and taking advantage of the opportunities when they arose. She scored inside and out to the 3-point line. Inside she scored driving to the rim and with her back to the basket. She got her teammates involved and was active on the defensive end. She did more things thank any other player at the Expo and this is why she is Expo MVP and a member of the All Expo Team. NJ Panthers and Montville HS achieve a lot of success because of Juliana’s contributions.
Leah showed why Rutgers Prep can’t wait to mix her in with their already very deep lineup today at the Expo. She was tough and physical inside. She recognized and took advantage of mismatches inside and attacked the rim in those situations finishing easily. She was aggressive on the boards and showed a good handle in transition. She certainly played with an edge and intimidated lesser players inside. If she can develop a consistent shot beyond 15 feet there will be an exciting new toy in the Rutgers Prep rotation.
Imani was typical Imani today. Consistent and steady and repeatedly making plays at both ends. She handled the ball very well, pushed in transition and dropped dimes all day. Her scoring was efficient and she was an inside out scorer taking what the defense gave her. She is fun to watch because she doesn’t make a lot of mistakes. She just gets it done and its why Plainfield HS and NJ Panthers are lucky to have her.
Highlights
Ava stuck right away in game #1 at the Expo. She is a true PG. She sets up the entire offense and gets people involved before focusing on her own scoring. When the time comes she doesn’t miss an opportunity to take matters into her own hands offensively. She got out in transition and finished consistently on the break and she showed a solid jumper out the to 3 point line. Ava played with a very high IQ. She is undersized but clearly the kind of floor general the is a major asset to Shore Regional HS.
At 6’2″, Averie showed as much skill as size at the Expo. She showed excellent footwork in the paint with her back to the basket and has a variety of moves and ways to finish inside. She has a soft touch and can step out and shoot it too. Her high release point makes her shots tough to defend. She showed an excellent handle for a player her size and is comfortable with the ball in her hands on the perimeter. If she can bring the same aggressiveness consistently to the defensive end she will continue to be a force for Egg Harbor Township HS where she is well on her way to 1,000 points.
