Here is a quick preview of who you will see from the North.
Aliyah Folarin
Aliyah Folarin
Class of 2024. Aliyah contributed in a lot of ways for Woodbridge HS last season. She was 4th on the team in rebounds, 6th in steals and 7th in scoring and had her career high 11 points in a state playoff loss to Hillsborough. She is a strong presence in the middle. When she gets the ball, she looks to attack the rim and she is a physical rebounder. She is also an aggressive defender with active hands. Playing AAU for SheNatural should set her up for improved numbers as a senior as 2 of their top 4 scorers have graduated.
Daniela Ibanez
Daniela Ibanez
Class of 2025. Daniela ranked 10th in scoring for Weehawken HS as a sophomore in only 8 games. With their leading scorer graduated from last year, she will look to make a bigger impact in the backcourt as a junior.
Class of 2025. One of the super sophomores for St. Dominic Academy last season along with Alyssa Stridiron Alyssa Stridiron 5’6″ | CG St. Dominic | 2025 State NJ , Janiyah finished 3rd in points and rebounding and 2nd in assists and steals. She is a good decision maker with the ball as evidenced by her 2+ apg at Weehawken and the patience she showed playing for United EAST this summer. She reads defenses well when she gets in the lane. As a defender, she is working hard on and off the ball and plays good team defense.
Class of 2025. Gianna has an opportunity to fill the void left by the graduation of Isabella Asencio at IHA in her junior year. IHA had success with a 2PG attack last year and could look to pair Gianna with senior Selena Cieszko Selena Cieszko PG Immaculate Heart | 2024 State NJ and run a similar style this season. She is comfortable spotting up at the 3-point line or with the ball in her hands. She is a vocal defender and her efforts showed well for NJ Panthers this summer. With IHA graduating almost 1,000 points from last season they will be looking for scorers to step up.
Mia Soto
Mia Soto
Class of 2025. After her freshman season at IHA, Mia transferred to Pompton Lakes where she led the team in scoring as a sophomore with 9+ppg. Best at attacking off the dribble she does have 3-point range. She is a physical player offensively and defensively and certainly plays with an edge. She brought her aggressive style to HUrban Legends of New Jersey this summer where they competed in the Select 40 circuit.
Lulu Witten
Lulu Witten
Class of 2025. Lulu saw action in 8 varsity games for Montclair HS as a sophomore. She has an opportunity to make a much bigger impact as a junior with the graduation of 2 of their top 4 leading scorers from last season. She will get the opportunity to make plays alongside double double machine Savannah Seawell Savannah Seawell 6’3″ | PF Montclair | 2025 State NJ .
Class of 2025. Katie is over 900 career points in just 2 seasons at Becton HS. Her range is unlimited, and she has a very quick release on her 3-pointers off the catch. She has more 3s than 2s in her 2 years of high school and averages more than 3 3-pointers per game in her career so far at Becton. The Wildcats were 10-0 last season when Katie scored 25 or more points. Defensively, she also led the team in blocked shots and is an opportunistic defender in the Becton press. In transition she pushes the ball up the court and has good vision on the break. A full range of skills were on display with NJ Freedom this summer.
