Here is a look at some of the new names of young guards/wings who caught our attention. After watching them go up and down the court for a little spell, here are a few quick evals.
Gianna Oldani (St. Joseph’s): A 2027 point guard who plays with a pass-first mentality. She is an unselfish player who is always looking for her teammates. She has excellent court vision and she makes sure that they get the ball in the right position to score. She’s very quick and she has a very high basketball IQ.
Lylah Kimberlin (Lafayette): A 2027 point guard who has good speed and she can be very feisty in how she will go inside and grab rebounds despite being one of the smallest players on the court. Her playmaking skills are good and she can hit the open 3-pointer.
Abby Walsh (Ursuline Academy): A 2027 wing player who has very good fundamentals. She has the ability to hit the 3-pointer off the catch and she can also get into the lane and score on a runner. She is a solid ball handler and passer.
Taylor McCarthy (Fort Zumwalt South): A 5’9″ 2027 wing player who has good athleticism and a high motor. The young lefty used her length to get steals and deflections. She has a quick second jump to get offensive rebounds. She can also slash to the basket and hit the 15 footer.
Hadley Nordmann (Webster Groves): A 2027 guard who has an impressive shooting stroke from 3-point range. She shoots it well off the catch and she does a good job of getting herself to the open spots.
Amelia Travers (St. Joseph’s): A 2027 guard who was very good at getting into the lane and making an assortment of shots. She could score on a nice floater inside. She also made good use of ball fakes to set up her drives to the basket.
