SubscribePrep Girls Hoops Michigan will be releasing it’s Watch List for some future high school basketball stars in the state of Michigan. To preview the Watch List, we’re going to give you 5 players that you may find on the list.
Arico is an elite freshman prospect with big time potential. It you forced me to make a list of future Miss Basketball finalists, she’d be on it. That’s the kind of upside I’m talking about. Her basketball IQ and mature game reminds me of watching Trevor Arico (currently playing for Emerson College) as a freshman some years back. Arico is an elite 2 way player that utilizes excellent footwork on both ends.
Backus is going to be incredibly fun to watch over the next 4 years. She projects to be an elite post player in Michigan over the next 4 years. Offensively, she does her best work with her back to the basket and is a constant threat to get put back buckets. Backus is like a magnet to the ball when it comes off the rim from a missed shot.
It all starts on the defensive end for Becher. That’s a good thing, because she has the chance to become one of the best defensive players in the state by the time it’s all said and done. Becher had so many blocks at the Top 250 that I was scared to get a drink because I thought she might block the fountain. In all seriousness though, she’s an elite rim protector already.
Black was lights out at the PGH Freshman Showcase this fall. Let’s start with the physical gifts. She pairs strength and athleticism with playmaking abilities. Black can score through contact as well as off put backs and on the perimeter. Outside of basketball skills, she’s a hard working young lady with a terrific support system helping her reach her goals.
Savoury is one of the most exciting freshman prospects to come through Michigan. She’s stepping into high school as an immediate matchup nightmare. Her combination of height and strength is just not seen every day in high school basketball. Add her elite ball skills and high basketball IQ to the equation and you get one of the best in the country.
