I’m dropping the forwards and posts, Audrey Richardson Audrey Richardson 6'0" | PF Liberty Hill | 2027 State TX -6’0 (Liberty Hill) will be on one of the next updates as well as many others I caught at the PGH Freshman Showcase along with the countless events I cover all across the state, before you ask where, it’s ALWAYS HERE
Simmons is “long and athletic” which will ALWAYS be the base and after watching her several times, including during the Final 4 at the Pass Tha Ball event, she set it off because please remember it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against. Her first step is strong and she attacks the basket powerfully, nice body control on her finishes puts her in the “and 1 waiting to happen” group. She can also drop the mid to long range jumper, she blocks shots, very nice timing, and she plays the passing lane
Highlights
Johnson stands over “the magic number” and her “ceiling has no roof” because each time I see her, she has shown me something different. Yes, she is a solid back to the basket player, hands and footwork continue to get better, she even showed me something #THROWBACK, the drop step. She hits the boards on both ends, even handles the ball afterward but she also showed she could score off the dribble, as well as drop the midrange. Having a college ready body and being able to defend, on the ball, is also a huge plus
I love surprises and after a couple of minutes, I knew she was in the running to be on the PGH Freshman Showcase All-Tournament team yet the more I watched her, she just kept showing her versatility. I mentioned she was “long and athletic” yet during the sessions, she showed she could either take over games scoring or mix it up another way to create some issues and when you can control the game on both ends. She’s a high energy player that falls into that “never take a play off” group
Maley is another play that continues to elevate her game, wait I mentioned that in my write up on her at the PGH Freshman Showcase as she was another All-Tournament selectee. I have a knack for certain things and she’s on the verge of creating some serious problems around the basket because she is constantly moving and understands how to seal defenders to score. Her “going after everything” mindset is something you can’t teach, she loves to defend and watching her show she can face the basket to score as well as do it off the dribble are big pluses
