Continue ReadingIn the last few years, Crater has been one of the best teams at the 5A level, and that is largely thanks to the incredible performance of Sage Winslow through her first two seasons. As a sophomore a year ago, she earned first team all-state, second team all-state from the OBCA, first team all-Midwestern league, and first team all-tournament at the end of the year. In the state tournament, she put up incredible numbers, averaging 20.0 points (first), 5.3 assists (second), and 6.7 steals (first) per game. This was just a continuation of what she had been doing all season long, however, as Winslow constantly plays like the type of player that you want on your team. She is incredibly quick and always seems to be one step ahead of everyone mentally as well, as seen by her incredible steal numbers, which results in her creating countless point-blank opportunities for herself and for her teammates. Winslow will be a point guard to watch as she leads the Comets in her junior season.
Highlights
Although Springfield will be returning the reigning 5A state player of the year, the immense success of the Millers would not be possible without the play of J’Bionna Robinson J’Bionna Robinson 5’8″ | PG Springfield | 2025 OR in the first half of her high school career. Robinson is a quick, smooth athlete with sneaky hands on defense and an incredible ability to finish around the rim in all types of ways. Throw in her ability to knock down shots from outside, she is a all-around threat. Robinson was named to the Midwestern League’s first team, as well as second team all-state, OBCA second team all-state, and first team all-tournament at the state tournament, where she was second in points per game with 16 and second in steals per game with 5.3. Clearly coming off a state championship, Springfield will be a team to watch this season and Robinson will be a huge factor in their success.
Rounding out Crater’s dynamic backcourt, Addison Dippel Addison Dippel 5’8″ | CG Crater | 2025 State OR is a talented shooting guard out of the class of 2025. With her father as the head coach of the Comets, Dippel is a classic example of a coach’s kid as she always seems to be in the right place at the right time, doing the little things the team needs and putting up statistics in every single category each game. Particularly impressive is Dippel’s outside shot which is lights out and quick, and she frequently demonstrates that she is not afraid to have a play run for her to get open or to take a big shot. She tied for the most made three-pointers at the state tournament with 6 makes on an amazing 42.9% from beyond the arc. Her sophomore season saw her finish on second team all-state, OBCA’s honorable mention all-state, and first team all-league in the Midwestern. Dippel is a player who has already had a very impressive first two years of her career, but seems to have a very high ceiling for growth, making her one that you won’t want to miss in the upcoming season.
Audrey Counts Audrey Counts 5’10” | PF Wilsonville | 2025 State OR is one of those gifted forwards who can play from all five spots on the floor. She made second team all-conference in the Northwest Oregon Conference last season as a sophomore. Standing at 5’10, Counts often goes to work in the paint for the Wildcats, however, she also has the ability to spot up beyond the arc and knock down a shot or take the ball coast to coast herself when faced against a press. She has crafty moves and amazing agility in the post yet combines this with the skillset of a guard along with a very high motor, making her a very dangerous player with immense versatility. She consistently puts up big numbers in the scoring column for her team. Working alongside sophomore point guard Gabi Moultrie, Counts and the Wildcats have an incredibly bright future that will be quite fun to watch.

Juju Henderson
Juju Henderson
Springfield’s recent success would not have been possible without Henderson holding down the paint for the Millers. She is not someone that players want to attack the paint against, as she often rewards them by blocking their shot with great timing and the rare ability to stay on her feet rather than jumping at fakes. She was second in blocked shots at the state tournament a year ago. Offensively, Henderson gets great position and creates easy entry passes for her guards after which she is able to elevate and score over just about any defender. She already has honorable mention all-state, second team all-league, and second team all-tournament under her belt. With two years left in her career, Henderson is already demonstrating incredible post play and she will no doubt continue to impress as she develops further.
Hadley Craig
Hadley Craig
Hadley Craig is another fun athlete to watch who dazzles from everywhere on the floor. Central often plays her at the top of their defense, and opposing offenses frequently struggle to even get one pass off against her quick hands, resulting in many easy points for her team. It was not uncommon for Craig to put up stat lines like her 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 steals against Woodburn last season. In the Mid-Willamette Conference, she earned second team honors at the end of the year. She is an aggressive scorer to the rim who is incredibly hard to stop once she gets a head of steam and she also has a smooth little mid-range jumper that she doesn’t hesitate to shoot. Craig will continue to be a nightmare for opponents in the next two seasons of her high school career.
Patricia Mike Patricia Mike 5'6" McKay | 2025 State OR
Patricia Mike Patricia Mike 5'6" McKay | 2025 State OR
With only one senior on the roster a year ago, McKay struggled to find a lot of W’s, but Patricia Mike Patricia Mike 5’6″ McKay | 2025 State OR was the heart and soul of this young squad and will undoubtedly continue to impress in the second half of her career. As the point guard, Mike runs the offense for the Scots while also being their primary scorer and racking in a high volume of rebounds, especially for a smaller guard. At the Nike Interstate Shootout last season, she averaged 20 points and 9 rebounds in three games against high-level competition. She has a nice shot and can knock it down from very deep range. She also has tight, confident handles with the ball. Mike earned second team all-conference in the Mid-Willamette and if the Scots can figure out how to tick a few more boxes in the win column, she will deservedly be up for consideration for far more recognition.
With a handful of seniors leaving the program, the Storm will be an exciting team to watch and Williams will be one of the leaders of the team as a junior. She already earned second team all-conference as a sophomore in the Intermountain Conference. At 5’10, Williams often plays down low for Summit’s basketball program. When in the post, she has quite the arsenal of ways in which she finishes around the rim with both hands, and stretching out to the elbow and beyond, she has the ability to make a quick move and still find a way to get to the rim. She can also stretch the floor offensively with her smooth three-point shot, and on the other end of the floor, she has great timing as a shot blocker. Williams will have much more on her shoulders this year and her incredible talent will be on full display.
