Some of you may know that I usually try to be the first at the gym. I like to see who gets there early. I believe that when they arrive can say a lot about the player and their habits. At the PGH Michigan Top 250, Dottery was the first at the gym. She was once again the first at the gym for the City Slam. This time she wasn’t just first, but she beat me there. Borsenik brought an intensity to the floor at the City Slam Championships. You wanted it on Saturday. She wanted to be successful and she wanted to improve. Borsenik played like every play mattered, and when you can do that in practice or at a showcase, that transfers very easily to game time.

Schmidt was so impressive at the event. She was the youngest player, and it wasn’t even close. But instead of using that as an excuse for mistakes, she used it as a chance to challenge herself and get better. Well, Schmidt played like she belonged and showed that she has game. Approaches like hers lead to great players.
Wallace certainly shined bright at the City Slam on Saturday. She brought a champions mentality to the gym. If she was there, the event was going to be big time. And Wallace brought the energy and determination needed to carry that aura. She has a top notch game and she brings the grit to the gym needed to achieve that level of play.
Optimal performance is achieved when a team works and plays together as one. The same applies for a practice and showcase environment. Borsenik definitely fostered that feel at the event. She worked hard for herself and she worked hard for the other players in the gym. From giving positive motivation to other players to rebounding for everyone during the 3 point contest, she was there for herself and for the other athletes.
