Here were some of the standouts that caught my eye on Wednesday night:
Elli Guiney Elli Guiney 5'9" | CG Millennium | 2024 State AZ Millennium
One of the purest shooting strokes out there. Her IQ and skill jump off the page when you watch her and is always playing at her own controlled pace. She is never rushed. She will score on post ups inside, spin moves to the cup, deep threes off the catch and mid-range jumpers off the dribble. She finished with a game high of 27 points.
Dashia Richardson Dashia Richardson 5'5" | PG Millennium | 2027 State AZ Millennium
The young freshman is one of their future pieces to the West Valley team. She is a strong point guard who uses pick and rolls, hesitation moves and makes smart reads to spray the ball around to teammates into the post or moves the ball to an open shooter. She can shoot it from the perimeter or get to the basket but her first thought is to make a play.
Isabella Ivy Isabella Ivy 5'6" | PG Perry | 2025 State AZ Perry (Pictured)
A very, very young team in the East Valley is led by Ivy. She handles a lot of the lead guard duties and is a ball hawk defender with quick hands and feet. She makes her opponents feel uncomfortable. She also has a quick first step to get downhill and score in traffic and will hit open perimeter jumpers. When she plays well, she takes pressure off of their talented crop of sophs and freshmen.
Bella Burcar Bella Burcar 5'10" | SF Perry | 2026 State AZ Perry
The Top-10 wing is back and immediately paid off. She is very versatile with some size to rebound and push it up the court. She will hit jumpers from mid to the three and dribble drive to the basket in traffic. She smartly plays the passing lanes and will give it up to get it back on the break.
Novelle McQuiston Novelle McQuiston 5'11" | SF Perry | 2026 State AZ Perry
The out of state transfer is one of the more unique players in the AIA. She really does it all from rebounding, to making full court passes on a dime up the court, breaking down a defense and getting to the basket plus hitting the catch three in rhythm.
Nation Williams PF 6’3 2027 Centennial/NV
One of the top freshman forwards on the West Coast is a strong power forward with great size, footwork and skill. She works well in the high post and can pass off of it or rip thru and score in heavy traffic. She does tend to favor her left hand but is very effective with it. She is a top of the food chain rebounder using her size, aggression and athleticism.
Danae Powell PG 5’8 2025 Centennial/NV
A point guard who can do it all with guiding the team to easy scores, scoring in transition, rebounding and scoring in traffic, shooting it with pull-ups off the dribble and speed dribble drives right by the entire defense. She verbally committed to Fresno State.
Shay Ijiwoye Shay Ijiwoye 5'6" | PG Desert Vista | 2024 State AZ Desert Vista
A physical lead guard is the guiding force for the Thunder. She can shoot it with mid-range pull-ups and hit the three off the catch. She gets downhill using her strong frame to score and-1’s or get to the line often. She is a very good rebounder for position and the Stanford commit made many down the court passes on a rope. One of her secrets to her success is she is fast like everyone thinks, but she also changes speeds well.
Trinity Jones Trinity Jones 5'7" | PG Desert Vista | 2025 State AZ Desert Vista
A scoring lead guard is a high arcing jump shooter with confidence with both from mid to the three. She can drive by to the cup with step thrus and rebounds the ball well plus brings good energy to the court. She has a nice handle to make plays for a teammate or free herself up for a shot.
Eanae Dagons Eanae Dagons 5'3" | PG Desert Vista | 2024 State AZ Desert Vista
The diminutive point guard is a quick on quick defensive minded player. She can rip some pockets and pick up her opponent full court if she wanted to. She likes going coast to coast for layups and will calmly stop and pop from the elbow and in. She handles heavy pressure to alleviate some of the attention away from Shay.
Dylan Swindle Dylan Swindle 5'6" | PG Desert Vista | 2025 State AZ Desert Vista
A talelned guard is a natural scorer from the perimeter and can create her own offense off the dribble. She has spins moves, fall aways and makes contested shots on the norm. What truly impressed me is her deep range from the parking lot.
