It’s a great look into how high school teams are going to look this upcoming year. What adjustments did they make in the off season? What players are stepping up after losing senior leadership from the previous season? Well this first article from the action is all about the senior ball handlers I saw yesterday.
Trinity Vance was showing why she’s one of the top guards in South Carolina right now. She can shoot the lights out around the perimeter, and she attacks the basket with ease using her handles to create some space. She sees the floor well being able to find her open teammates underneath the basket. She was playing some tight defense against a stellar opponent blocking her path from going anywhere and staying close enough that she couldn’t pull up for a good shot.
Mila Holloway was certainly the main facilitator on offense for her team running plays, creating space, and scoring some points from all over the court. She did a nice job whipping passes inside protecting each possession getting plays going for some points. In addition to her passes, she can certainly pull up for her own shots knocking them down from deep.
Jazlyn Harris is an excellent ball handler, and she knows how to make those sharp passes up the court landing in her teammates’ hands for the fast break. She hustles up the court on offense grabbing a rebound to give her team a second chance when trying to score in transition. Her eyes sell the fakes well as she passes the ball the opposite direction connecting with her teammates in half court sets.
Delanie Hill does a nice job wrapping passes around defenders and connecting with her teammates for their own points. She still has her shot from deep that she can count on, too, to score some points around the perimeter. She scored three points the old fashioned way, too, attacking the basket and battling through contact. Her ability to see the floor and make the pass to her teammates where they are running is certainly ready for the next level.
Charlotte Torgerson was showing off her handles attacking the basket, creating space, and knocking down the jumper. She has a variety of moves whether she is changing directions with her handles or she’s showing off some post moves with her back to the basket. She can certainly shoot well from around the arc, too.
