The high school basketball season is upon us. Here we look at 5 potential breakout players from Rhode Island.
[player_tooltip player_id='362355' first='Emily' last='Ryan'], High School ST Georges, Class 2025, Position SG, HT 5'8
Emily is a high energy player, that never takes a play off. She impacts the game on both sides of the ball. She likes to push the pace and run the floor. She can be a scorer, and also be a facilitator. She was much improved in her Sophomore season, and I expect her to continue to improve in her Junior season.
[player_tooltip player_id='496157' first='Lily' last='Sokol'], Class 2026, High School Rocky Country Day, Position SF, HT 5'11
Lily is a tough player, with a good attitude. She has length, and she has the abilities to be the teams leading scorer. She has a smooth jumper and mid range shot. She is also a good passer from the high and low post, and she does a good job finding the cutters. Lily is a versatile player, that can score in bunches. You will see her add more facets to her game this season.
[player_tooltip player_id='412222' first='Emma' last='Routhier'], High School Wheeler, Position SG, Class 2025
Emma had a strong Grassroots season, and I think that will carry over to the high school season. She is looking more confident, and creating her own shot more. She is a good catch and shooter, and can also shoot off the dribble. Emma is a hardworking player, who is always trying to improve her game.
[player_tooltip player_id='281713' first='Vyannis' last='Moronta'], High School Providence Country Day. Class 2026, Position SG
Moronta may be an undersized Guard, but she is still confident being a playmaker. She can shoot over taller defenders. She is a good three point shooter, with a quick release. She attacks hard off of high ball screens and cuts, and moves with a purpose away from the ball. She is also a tough defender, who is active, and has a good stance. Moronta is coming off an ACL injure, so look for this to be her comeback and breakout season.
[player_tooltip player_id='298229' first='Isys' last='Dunphy'], High School Barrington, Class 2025, Position F, HT 5'11
Dunphy is a Forward, who players bigger than her listed size. She has a high vertical, and strong athleticism. She can defend inside and out, and switch on screens without a matchup problem. She is very active on the offensive and defensive glass. She is a versatile player, that impacts the game in many ways. On offensive she is a playmaker, and can create her own shot. She can get her shot off in multiple ways, and she gets to her spots quickly. I think there is a high ceiling in Dunphy's game.
