Just in the new top 50, there are 13 combo guards listed, including two top-5 prospects. With combo guards being such a large part of these rankings, it’s only fitting that we rank the top five combo guards of the 2026 class.
No. 1: GiGi Battle GiGi Battle 6'0" | CG Rutgers Prep | 2026 State NJ – Rutgers Prep (No. 1 overall)
No. 1 prospect in the sophomore class. No. 1 combo guard in the sophomore class. With Battle being at the top, there was no question who our top combo guard was going to be, and she’s a fantastic player to lead the charge. Already heavily desired by a number of Division I programs, Battle made herself known as a freshman. Her size on the floor has really helped make her as complete a guard as they come. Really aggressive offensively and defensively, great range as a shooter and great court awareness overall.
No. 2: Addison Nyemchek Addison Nyemchek 6'1" | CG Red Bank Catholic | 2026 State NJ – Red Bank Catholic (No. 4 overall)
Nyemchek is part of the new wave of guards that possess the height of a forward with the skillset and finesse of a guard. Standing at 6-1, she certainly fits the bill, but that height has only gone toward helping out her overall success on the floor, adding a dimension to her game that has made her equally effective on offense and defense. Her and Battle follow suit in a similar path: great offensive players with the agility and stamina to make big plays defensively, and for both, it has worked out tremendously.
No. 3: Stella Lockhart Stella Lockhart 6'1" | CG St. John Vianney | 2026 State NJ – St. John Vianney (No. 11 overall)
St. John Vianney got a massive addition to its team for this season in the Gill St. Bernard’s transfer, heading to a program where she’s going to fit in nicely as that guard/forward piece, someone with the versatility to play both positions, possessing the size to be able to do so. Lockhart can dominate the paint while putting defenders on skates with her ball-handling skills and equally impressive court vision, giving her opportunities to split double-teams and other defensive schemes with ease.
No. 4: Teagan Drennan Teagan Drennan 5'10" | CG Trinity Hall | 2026 State NJ – Trinity Hall (No. 22 overall)
We have the more defensive-minded combo guards thanks to their size and versatility and then we have the more offensive-minded guards who still have that size, but that mobility speaks volumes to their success. Drennan made her presence from beyond the arc felt at Trinity Hall last season, a truly excellent three-point shooter with an effortless touch and great range coming out of the gates. She shoots with confidence and that confidence has seeped into the rest of her game. Confidence truly breeds success.
No. 5: Synai Blychanton Synai Blychanton 5'9" | CG Red Bank Regional | 2026 State NJ – Red Bank Regional (No. 34 overall)
Blychanton isn’t someone that the high school fan saw last season, but they sure saw plenty of her in the summer as she played a big role on one of NJ Rise’s 15U squad. She’s the perfect 1-2 punch of great on-ball defense, something that frustrates defenders, and crafty interior play offensively that has allowed her to create in the lane, but also pull up from midrange or deep. Blychanton’s basketball IQ is high and she absorbs the game well, making her a dual-threat and multi-dimensional superstar guard in the making.
