Thornton sold me in middle school and I knew she would become a “THORN” for defenders trying to guard her. What attracted me early was her attacking the basket powerfully and finishing strongly after contact, along with her rebounding, on both ends, and scoring around the basket. Watching her defense get better each year, in the set as well as on the ball, has been nice yet so has her range as I have witnessed her drop double digit three pointers in a game more than once while 5 or more countless times
Gresa Arapi
Gresa Arapi
Arapi plays for one of the all time great coaches out of Texas, Ann Robique, who has aways done a great job of placing her players in the right situation to excel. Watching this young lady create her shot under pressure and knock down the mid to long range jumper, with a hand in her face was nice yet so was her using a deceptive first step to score off the dribble. Her court vision was also nice, both in the set as well as in transition and that old saying BFND still stands
Aries Tovar
Aries Tovar
Tovar also showed that BFND as she did a good job rebounding on both ends of the court. Part of that was because she has a nice frame yet another part was she understands positioning under the basket yet DESIRE is the key. She did a good job defending inside the paint, as well as scoring around the basket yet she showed she could not only drop the long ball but her “catch and shoot” while being pressured was also nice
Naveah White
Naveah White
White is a “long and athletic” guard that uses her athleticism well on both ends of the floor. She had a knack for being around the ball when it was loose and her “on the ball” pressure was nice, both in the half court as well as baseline to baseline. She did a good job attacking the basket from multiple angles but her court vision was also solid as she made good decisions on who to get the ball at the right time. She plays within herself, which is always huge
Nevaeh Kearney
Nevaeh Kearney
Kearney falls into that “you won’t outwork me” group and her diving for loose balls is part of it, so is her going AFTA the ball off the rim, on both ends of the court. She has a powerful frame and when you factor in her strength as she battles for the ball, it’s no surprise to me that she’s able to finish strongly around the basket. She also showed she could handle the ball in the open court and watching her score while attacking the basket was nice
Shreya Jategaonkar
Shreya Jategaonkar
Jategaonkar is another player that does a good job of “playing within herself” which simply means she doesn’t try and do things out of the ordinary. She also does a good job of getting hers “in the flow” and playing heady, on both ends is another part of her game that I liked. She patiently sets the defender up to attack the basket, her body control on her finishes are nice yet she also can dish in traffic off the dribble. Her court vision in the set as well as in transition was also solid
