I am surprised by the number of freshmen athletes making significant impacts rebounding the ball at the varsity level.

Here is a look at Class of 2027 “Board Monsters” who have been cleaning the glass for their coaches and hoping that Santa Claus has noticed their unselfish work on the boards.

Nicole Gaspers, 5'8”, F, Veritas Chrisitan, ‘27

Gaspers is a defensive wizard who is off to a solid start for the Eagles. In three games the freshman forward is averaging 10 rebounds per game. She is scoring five-plus points per game, but she saves her best work for the defensive end of the floor where she already is averaging two-plus steals and blocked shots per contest.

[player_tooltip player_id='884867' first='Pearmella' last='Carter'], 5'10”, PF, Highland Park, ‘27

When I check out the Scotties in 2024, freshman forward Carter will be on my scouting radar. She is averaging 9.3 rebounds and 11 points per game. Carter is doing some serious work on the offensive glass averaging six-plus offensive rebounds per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='836279' first='Reece' last='Stickney'], 5'6”, CG, Ellinwood, '27

A young freshman Eagle has left the nest in Ellinwood and through five games is averaging 7.4 rebounds per contest. Stickney has a nice vertical and can also put the biscuit in the basket to the tune of 12.8 points per game. She also is an outside hitter on the volleyball court.

[player_tooltip player_id='892916' first='Kynzi' last='Fehringer'], 5'9”, F, Stanton County , ‘27

Fehringer is a young multi-sport talent for the Trojans. She is averaging 7.2 rebounds per game in six games played before the holiday break. She also has an impressive overall stat line scoring 4.7 points per game, and averaging two assists and two steals per contest.

[player_tooltip player_id='1139818' first='Zoe' last='Davidson'], 5'7”, G, Cedar Vale/Dexter, ‘27

Davidson is serving as Master Chief for the Spartans through six games in 2023. Yes, I looked up what the leader of the Spartans was called. Davidson is averaging seven rebounds per game to go along with 15.3 points and two steals per game.
