Chelinda Spector
I talked about her fellow newcomer at Pius this season in my other article today, but Spector is another kid who I’ve enjoyed watching on the two occasions I saw Pius this year. She’s a perfect pairing with Marciella Rivera. Where Rivera does most of her best work on the defensive end, Spector has more skills on the offensive end. Spector was a significant reason the Popes handled Racine Prairie to open the season, hitting four three-pointers against the highly-regarded D4 group. As she gets more comfortable at Pius, she’ll continue to improve.
Elli Shultis
Out of everyone I’ve seen that I didn’t know heading into the season, Shultis is the one I’m most intrigued by. She’s around 5-11 and has a solid base on her shot. As she matures, it’ll look better over time. Right now, she’s been playing as a 3&D kid. Shultis has the tools to step into a prominent role for Fond du Lac over the next three seasons and could be a kid that every other coach highlights heading into their game with the Cardinals every season. She has the size, skill, and talent to become a productive player in the FVA.
I think I’ve seen Ott a few times, but I genuinely can’t remember seeing her play before I saw Appleton East at Kettle Moraine. Whether my memory works or not, what Ott does on the floor, any team would find ways to get her on the court. She’s a wing with solid size at 5-9 or 5-10, and she can shoot it at a high level. She provides spacing to a perimeter-oriented team, allowing her to get open looks every game, and creates space for her teammates to do what they do best. I adore kids who play secondary roles that allow their teammates to do what they do best, and that’s what Ott brings to Appleton East.
Julieyn Martin Julieyn Martin 5'10" | SG Hortonville | 2026 State WI
Hortonville has about nine kids you’d feel comfortable putting on the floor for extended minutes, and Martin is one of them. However, Martin has earned a significant amount of minutes over the early portion of the season. How she defends and how confidently she shoots the ball can’t be understated. Martin allows the Polar Bears to stay aggressive and give their guards a trusted option to kick the ball out when help inevitably comes their way.
