The All About the Girls Holiday Classic has everything and can cater to any level of team. If local teams get smart they will realize that they can save a lot of money and teams will travel here to play them. Coach Al’s AATGHH plays tournament style and pays homage to some of our founding members of DMV girls basketball and is growing every year. Mental note for teams next year, save some cash to put back into your programs and give Coach Al a call. This year gives us the James Nichols Division, Saladin Reese Division and the Terrence Butler Jr. division that honored the loss of my son. I was on hand for the Serious Hoops and Terrence Butler Jr division games and these are some of the players that caught my eye.
Elana continued to get better as the day progressed and it continued into a championship for St. Paul School for Girls. Elana showed good speed with the ball running the floor and she finished well after getting to the basket. She has good vision keeping her head up and finding teammates and had good defense as well.
Lailah shot Wise to victory over the Friends School of Baltimore. She had five 3-pointers and made other plays dropping 22 points in the victory. If she continues to shoot like she is Wise could find there way back to a county championship game. She gets open a lot because she runs the floor very hard and gets open looks in transition.

LuLu showed a good handle and the ability to work through traps and doubles which she constantly faced as the Pumas wanted the ball out of her hands. She got the ball to her teammates and was able to make some shots for herself. She was the bright spot for the Friends School.
Kennedy played some post and some wing and did well at both. She was good on the boards rebounding on both ends and finished well around the basket.

Sumpter has good size for the Gators and finished well when at the basket. She had a strong second half against Eastern Tech helping them to break open a really close game. She showed good footwork drop stepping through a double team inside for a finish.
