A couple of things before you read the article. First, this is NOT a ranking or a preview for a ranking. This is just a list of 10 freshmen players that have impressed me. Second, I know there are more players to be mentioned. Be on the lookout for a part 2 with more dynamic players from the class of 2027. So if you would like for me to get my eyes on a player be sure to message me on X (formerly Twitter) with the player’s name, school, and schedule. I’ll try to see them in person or online.
Miciah Fusilier | Wing | Camden Fairview
When you are already on the 2027 ESPN HoopGurlz watchlist that means you have impressed the right people. Miciah is a 6’3 forward who possesses some guard skills. The freshman is well-known on the GUAA Circuit and will play up in the 17U division for the Mavs Elite organization this spring and summer. She has already secured a few offers from some Power 5 schools and will be racking up more through her high school career.
Journey Jefferson | Guard | Earl
Journey is a name you will continue to hear over the next 4 years. She’s someone who can play either guard position and will get after you on the defensive end. She’s already making a name for herself and has been recognized by some scouting services as one of the top guards in the class. For the first half of the season Journey is averaging 22pts per game. I’m looking for her to continue to develop and become one of the best players in the state before she graduates and moves to the college level.
Randi Stewart | Guard | Pulaski Academy
Randi has good size and is a threat from the three-point line. During the summer she plays on one of the most competitive travel teams in the country. It takes a certain level of toughness to be able to compete at the varsity level as a freshman. She’s not just looked upon to be a difference maker in the lineup but also a leader. Randi is a name you will continue to hear about throughout her high school career.
Treniyah Weston | Point Guard | Conway
Treniyah is a fireball. She brings so much energy and effort to her team. She loves to get out in transition and show off her athleticism. She harrasses the ball handler with her on-ball defense and she plays the passing lanes well. The 6A Central is one of the toughest conferences in the state and be a starter as a freshman shows her resilience.
Makenlie Campbell | Point Guard | Conway
Makenlie has an argument for the best freshman point guard in the state. Her ability to run her team and manage the game shows her experience and her poise. A solid on-ball defender who understands how to use her feet to put her in a position to use her hands. Offensively she’s a dual threat with the ability to score and get her teammates involved. It’s going to be fun to see how she develops in the years to come.
Kim Henry | Post | Vilonia
I haven’t seen anyone who comes off the bench and plays a more important role than Kim. Her responsibility of controlling the paint with her scoring and defense is huge for her Vilonia team. Her size and interior scoring give Vilonia versatility on offense. She’s poised, excels at her role, and will do whatever is needed for her team to win.
Saniah Coachman | Wing | Fayetteville
Standing nearly 6ft, Saniah possesses a lot of the skills needed for a perimeter player to be successful. She can play several positions, she shoots the three, attacks off the bounce, makes plays for her teammates, and gives great effort on defense. Saniah has a big upside with her size and potential. When it’s all said and done she could be one of the best players to come out of Arkansas in the class of 2027.
Brooklyn Burnham | Guard | Vilonia
Brooklyn is a versatile player for Vilonia who can play on the perimeter and operate out of the high post. She will fight bigger players for rebounds, dive on the floor for 50/50 balls, give great effort on defense, and make a lot of winning plays that don’t always show up on the stat sheet. Brooklyn’s another player in the class of 2027 that is a dynamic player will help keep Vilonia in contention for a state title through her high school career.
Brianna Burnham | Guard | Vilonia
Brianna has gotten off to a good start in her high school career. The guard starts for the varsity team and is a big contributor on both ends of the floor. Her three-point shooting spreads the floor and she is a threat attacking the rim off the dribble. She does a good job defensively with her ball pressure and playing the passing lanes. Brianna continues to get better and make a name for herself as one of the most dynamic players in the class of 2027.
Summer Morgan | Guard | Nettleton
Summer is an athletic guard who is figuring some things out, but the potential is there. She’s able to have success on the floor with her athleticism and the effort she brings to the table. Once she learns how to play at different speeds on offense it’s going to be trouble for the opposition. Her skills will continue to develop throughout high school and with experience her IQ will get better too. Summer has the potential to be one of the best guards in the state.
