7 days and over 30 games. The holiday hoops tournament down at the Jersey Shore was a major success with so much talent under one roof! After being present all 7 days with my head on a swivel, I've reviewed my notes & evaluations, checked them twice and have compiled the first ever PGH First Team All-Boardwalk Classic:

[player_tooltip player_id='408039' first='Kaci' last='Mikulski'] | Wildwood Catholic

Knocking down mid-range jumpers, blowing past defenders to the hoop and drilling 3-pointers left, right and sideways… Kaci was unstoppable this holiday break. She tallied 21 points (four 3's) against Cumberland and another -6 (two 3's) against Bishop Eustace. With a laser-sharp focus, excellent footwork & extreme efficiency, she showed us all why she's next-level ready! Her high basketball acumen is just as impressive as her extraordinary skill set.

[player_tooltip player_id='414395' first='Reese' last='Downey'] | Absegami

On a signature 3-pointer midway through the 4th quarter against Kingsway, Reese reached a major milestone, eclipsing 1,000 points for her career. Her accuracy from deep was insane, knocking them down in rapid succession and deflating opponents in the process. In that memorable game vs Kingsway, she went off for 37 points and drained seven 3's. A few days later against Timber Creek she went off for 20 points and sank four 3's. She pushed the pace, made smart decisions & was impressive on both sides of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='525309' first='Averie' last='Harding'] | Egg Harbor Township

Averie imposed her will from the very beginning and was tenacious in games against St. Dominic and Newark Academy. She established position under the rim and was tough to contain, showing off disciplined footwork and strong post moves.. At 6'2", she ran the floor remarkably well and kept high energy throughout the duration of each game. She was efficient in converting post-entry passes into quick buckets (totaled 31 points) and was a fierce rebounding presence.

[player_tooltip player_id='583463' first='Ava' last='Kraybill'] | Egg Harbor Township

Ava got her 33 points (in two games) in a number of ways. She was crafty finishing around the rim, efficient from the mid-range and smooth on stop and pop 3-pointers. A pesky and disruptive defender, she had great anticipation and quick reflexes to jump in the lanes and deflect passes. She was quick and alert on both sides of the ball, helping Egg Harbor to a 2-0 showing, including a big win over a very good Newark Academy.

[player_tooltip player_id='325183' first='Dagny' last='Slomack'] | Newark Academy

Dagny ended 2023 on a high note, eclipsing 1,000 points and etching her name in Newark Academy's history books in the 3rd quarter vs Egg Harbor Township on her way to a 10-point showing. She was excellent all week and dazzled the crowds with her strong shake and bake handles, explosiveness off the dribble and silky smooth mid-range. A fireball of a player, she brought the energy and played uptempo from start to finish, pushing the pace and wearing opponents down. Her two-way game was on full display as she handled things on defense, scrapping for loose balls, swiping steals and just being downright fiesty!
