Madisyn Berggren Madisyn Berggren 5'8" | SF West De Pere | 2025 State WI
Having a kid with as quick a trigger from the three-point line is valuable. West De Pere having a guard who can get her the ball whenever makes Berggren even more deadly. As a spot-up shooter, she’s among the best in the Green Bay area. I love how much she’s embraced what she does well, and in turn, she’s made her team better by being the best version of what her team needs from her. There have been games where Berggren has been the difference between wins and losses, which will continue over her final two high school seasons.
Ellie Schiszik Ellie Schiszik 5'5" | PG Elk Mound | 2025 State WI
There are a few guards in the state who make everything look easy, and Schiszik is one of those guards. Everything from her shooting, finishing, and passing looks like it’s the easiest thing in the world to her, and judging by the results, that may not be hyperbole. She’s led Elk Mound to winning seasons in her first two years and has always been a threat to make a run out of Sectional One in Division Three. She’s been effective everywhere she’s been. As Schiszik matures, she’ll only improve and help her team get further and further.
I remember first watching Welsch a few summers ago and thinking about how skilled she was around the basket in Nebraska or Iowa. I forget where. Regardless, the version of Welsch we see now might be the most productive post-player in Wisconsin Girls’ High School Basketball. Her 32-point and 24-rebound game against River Falls, who’s rebuilding, to be fair, likely won’t come close to being matched by anyone in the state. There hasn’t been an answer for her yet. Remember, she ended the year on a high last season against Neenah in sectionals, where she nearly helped the Old Abes get an upset last year.
Marissa Morgan Marissa Morgan 5'8" | CG Grafton | 2025 State WI
Morgan can be a slight afterthought in Grafton’s backcourt, given the talent she shares the Black Hawk backcourt with. However, watching her play over the last year made me appreciate what she brings to the floor. Morgan plays with plenty of grit, which shows up throughout the game. She’s willing to battle for rebounds, she can play well within her team’s press break and will guard talented kids on the perimeter and not shy away from the competition. There’s plenty to like about her game. She makes winning plays.
