Final Score :
Oak Ridge (5-1) — 37
Cleveland (6-4) — 62
Johnson, who is coming off a 20 point, 20 rebound game last week. After missing last year with an injury, it’s great to watch her get back on the floor. Against Cleveland, she was 4-16 and just couldn’t get going on this night. Cleveland did a great job sagging in the gaps and keeping Johnson off the offensive glass. Johnson still finished with a double double (10 points and 10 rebounds) on an off night. Putting up double-doubles on an off-night is an indication of a kid who impacts winning in lots of ways.

The freshman PG has been phenomenal this season, and I’ll give her a lot of credit for proving to be much better than advertised. She put up 19 shots vs Cleveland, and ran the show, which means she’s proved her worth and earned those shots (and that role) in practice. She scored 16 points on 6-19 shooting, and 2-9 from three. Really impressive performance for a ’27.
Hurst came to life in this game vs Oak Ridge! The offense ran through her in many different ways at the elbows, top of the key, etc. Hurst look very comfortable playing away from the rim like a guard. She finished with 17 points and 8 rebounds, and was 3-8 from three. A 6’3 wing knocking down three 3’s is why Hurst is a top 60 player nationally.
Smith’s role has been growing and growing as Coach B has obviously made it clear that Smith’s offensive success if vital for the teams success. She’s been very aggressive lately hunting her own offensive oppurtunities inside the offensive. They’ve also been running more and more quick hitters for her. Smith finished with 7 points, and one made three.

It was great to watch Patterson play tonight! She is a player I’ve watched many times over the years, and I think the freshman has the potential to be a really high-level modern stretch big. She’s a great passer from the high post, and tireless rebounder. She simply does a lot of great things that impact winning. She’s been recovering from an injury, so watching her score 4 points and grab 4 rebounds in 11 minutes was great!

Copeland is another freshman that has carved out a large role on this team. She’s been starting, and the team relies on her ball handling and shot making capabilities. She started the season shooting really well, and has hit a bit of a dry spell, but I’ve watched the kid for years–she’s a shooter…and SHOOTER’S SHOOT. She was 1-4 from three last night, but did a really nice job handling the Oak Ridge defense.
Westfield was phenomenal vs Oak Ridge on the defensive end. She was tasked with guarding the other team’s best player, and did a great job leading a team defensive effort. While Westfield didn’t put up big stats, she was a +21 in 23 minutes. Her +/- numbers were the best on Cleveland’s team.
