A sharpshooter who scorches the bottom of the net consistently. Displaying a sweet stroke from the field, she shoots the ball with ease from multiple spots. She can use her speed and quickness to attack downhill or come off screens and receive clean looks at the basket as the ball goes in. Each year, she has grown tremendously, becoming a viable option for this program. Look for her to not only have a successful year but also gain traction in the recruitment game.

Playing with such confidence, it has carried over from her time in school ball. She’s a kid who brings leadership to the table. High basketball IQ: she can finish in the paint off two or dial it up from deep, knocking down 3s. She’s a solid defender, able to neutralize opponents. Her game has grown over the past year, and she’s about to have her breakthrough in the upcoming live period.

Junior for Cleveland High School, Laney Copeland Laney Copeland 5'5" | CG Cleveland | 2027 State TN , is balling out in her third year of high school basketball.

Copeland is averaging 11.4 PPG in 19 recorded games. She also has 44 makes from three and is shooting 34% from three. Copeland has a couple of games to her name this season, with five made threes. This includes a game in which Cleveland won against Rhea County this season.

Along with being a great sharpshooter, Copeland is also a great on-ball defender. In a game against Austin-East High School, she had four steals.

She’s about to have a season this upcoming year. Selfless ball player who makes the right plays at the right time. She can score from multiple spots on the floor; however, it’s her play-making decisions that stand out that giving her club the advantage. She can pull the 3 ball, get to the rim, or drop dimes to team members. Defensively, she gets after it, causing turnovers, being solid. She’s a kid who plays with poise and doesn’t get rattled. Tough kid who is going to be a big-time contributor.

Laney is a dawg! She is not backing down from any fight. She does a great job with her handles and taking care of the ball. She also does a great job with the ball in her hands and getting her teammates in position to score. She limits turnovers, and does all of the little things that do not always show on a stat sheet. She will always pass up the good shot for the great shot! She does an excellent job controlling the tempo and staying poised. Really like her game. Not very big, but seems to play bigger. Highly competitive and gets after it on both ends. Above average shot make both off the catch or off the dribble. Continues to improve as a playmaker off the bounce with nice vision and IQ. Does a great job defensively moving her feet and truly understand “man to man” concepts. Knows the game.

Copeland has had a great spring with Trotters Armes ’27. She’s shot it exceptionally well thus far in the summer, and should build on her role in the rotation that she carved out as a freshman last season. She can both be a high level “catch and shooter” shooter, or she’s one of the few players that can legit get her shot off the dribble. Has a chance to be a special HS scorer down the road.
