This article will be stretched out just a bit more than our previous standout articles about Week 1, but what a great week of basketball it has been across the state, especially in Central Jersey. Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey now takes a look at the top players across the first official week of play in the Garden State.

[player_tooltip player_id='333309' first='Daniella' last='Matus'] - St. John Vianney (2025)

Matus's stats haven't jumped off the page like some others, but what did jump off the page was her Dec. 17 performance against expected powerhouse Life Center Academy. The junior guard put up a season-high 26 points in a 16-point win, knocking down seven threes en route to the victory. Incredibly impressive performance for a budding star.

Madison Sciarrino - Freehold Township (2026)

If you're not one who follows the Shore Conference closely, Sciarrino's name might not be that familiar to you. The sophomore came off the bench last season, but this season, she's exploded in a starting role, absolutely dominating the floor for Freehold Township. Sciarrino already has two double-doubles to her name and is averaging north of 12 points a game so far.

[player_tooltip player_id='488725' first='Skylar' last='Soltis'] - Southern (2024)

Soltis hasn't missed a beat this season for Southern, already having posted two double-doubles while holding onto double-double averages through her first five games of the season. That also includes nearly four blocks a game for Southern, one of the leaders of the pack in the Shore Conference, currently 4-1. A big reason for that is the play of their senior forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='325184' first='Joi' last='Johnson'] - Ewing (2024)

Take your pick with Ewing. Johnson, [player_tooltip player_id='325195' first='Rhian' last='Stokes'] and [player_tooltip player_id='406940' first='Te'Yala' last='Delfosse'] are all having incredible seasons so far, but we decided to focus on the senior forward, currently averaging 18.8 PPG, 8.8 RPG and 2.4 APG through her first five games, coupled with 2.2 blocks a game and 2.0 steals a game. Really impressive overall numbers for the future Division I prospect.

Ji'Asia Robinson - Trenton (2024)

It's time we give credit where credit is due, and that's due to Trenton, currently off to a hot 3-0 start this season. Robinson is one of the main reasons for this hot start, averaging 12 PPG and 9.3 RPG as a senior, a stark contrast to averaging 3.1 PPG over her first three seasons (31 games) with the Tornadoes. We're seeing a more dominant force than ever, and it's producing big results.

[player_tooltip player_id='488866' first='Kennedy' last='Havens'] - Hopewell Valley (2024)

Havens seems to be well on her way toward career-highs as a senior for Hopewell Valley, averaging 9.8 PPG and 8.6 RPG through her first five games of her final high school season. We're seeing a player more confident than ever, a great knack for scoring along with a strong sense of the floor down low to get rebounds. The Bulldogs will almost assuredly benefit greatly from her success thus far.

[player_tooltip player_id='333322' first='Kayden' last='Clark'] - Ocean Township (2025)

We end this by talking about a fast emerging talent at Ocean Township, junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='333322' first='Kayden' last='Clark']. She's off to a red hot start this season, averaging a career-high 13.8 PPG through four games played. A small sample size for sure, but this is the best consistency that Clark has shown as a scorer thus far, and she seems determined to push her own boundaries of success for the Spartans.
