1st Quarter
Right off the tip Ella Grace Saunders Ella Grace Saunders 5'10" | SG Steward | 2026 VA drained a three point basket from the corner and the next possession was followed up by a nice Sanai Green Sanai Green 6'0" | SF Steward School | 2026 State VA layup for a quick 5-0 lead! Highland Springs finally stopped the bleeding with a skip pass from Morgan Boyd Morgan Boyd 5'9" | CG Highland Springs | 2024 State VA to Ah’kiyah Pye Ah’kiyah Pye 5'6" | PG Highland Springs HS | 2024 State VA for a three point basket! Pye went on a personal run reeling off back to back layups off of ball screens for layups! Morgan Boyd Morgan Boyd 5'9" | CG Highland Springs | 2024 State VA got in the mix with a steal and took it coast to coast for a score! After a rough stretch for Steward, Sanai Green Sanai Green 6'0" | SF Steward School | 2026 State VA ended the first quarter with a half court buzzer beater for a lead for The Springs 14-9!
2nd Quarter
Sanai Green Sanai Green 6'0" | SF Steward School | 2026 State VA got things started with a face up drive from the free throw line for 2 points. But a small Steward run was halted by back to back three point makes for Brianna Shelton, then followed up by a fast break score by Morgan Boyd Morgan Boyd 5'9" | CG Highland Springs | 2024 State VA . Ava Johnson Ava Johnson 6'2" | PF Steward School | 2025 State VA was able to make some much needed baskets with a much needed and one put back off a rebound, connecting on a foul line jumper and hitting a long shot from the top of the key. But right before the half Ah’kiyah Pye Ah’kiyah Pye 5'6" | PG Highland Springs HS | 2024 State VA was able to find Samaya Brown for a layup for the last score of the quarter for a 29-23 Highland Springs lead!
3rd Quarter
Steward continued the momentum with a quick Ava Johnson Ava Johnson 6'2" | PF Steward School | 2025 State VA layup and that was followed with a sick dime pass from Lilly Thoman Lilly Thoman 5'7" | PG Steward | 2026 State VA to Sanai Green Sanai Green 6'0" | SF Steward School | 2026 State VA also followed by a long range three by Lilly Thoman Lilly Thoman 5'7" | PG Steward | 2026 State VA . Pye had to get to work and she did, answering with a and one basket to stop the run! Off of a set play Lilly found Sanai Green Sanai Green 6'0" | SF Steward School | 2026 State VA on a great alley oop layup followed by another three pointer by Lilly Thoman Lilly Thoman 5'7" | PG Steward | 2026 State VA . Not a lot of scoring by The Springers in the 3rd quarter but it ended with Samaya Brown Samaya Brown 5'10" | PF Highland Springs | 2025 State VA getting a big and one put back to end the quarter with a 38-34 Steward lead!
4th Quarter
The quarter started with a matching layup from Sanai Green Sanai Green 6'0" | SF Steward School | 2026 State VA and Samaya Brown Samaya Brown 5'10" | PF Highland Springs | 2025 State VA . Then it was a crowd pleasing frantic scrum from both teams that amounted to nothing and kept the game at bay until Ah’kiyah Pye Ah’kiyah Pye 5'6" | PG Highland Springs HS | 2024 State VA had a game changing pickpocket steal and found Morgan Boyd Morgan Boyd 5'9" | CG Highland Springs | 2024 State VA for a layup. Boyd was busy the last minutes in the 4th she hit two a game big time baskets and hit two free throws to send the game into overtime tied all at 45-45!
OT
The OT got started with a nice crossover layup by Kailyn Taylor Kailyn Taylor 5'3" | PG Highland Springs | 2027 State VA that was followed by and one basket by Ah’kiyah Pye Ah’kiyah Pye 5'6" | PG Highland Springs HS | 2024 State VA . Lilly Thoman Lilly Thoman 5'7" | PG Steward | 2026 State VA got fouled and split the free throws and later hit a jumper as well. But after that Highland Springs was able to run a minute of the clock after some fouls and free throws Highland Springs was able to walk away with the win 54 to 48!
